Worst service in Italy with mediocre food. We booked a table in a garden and came 10min earlier just to be informed they're too busy in the garden and we can sit outside in front. No apology nothing. After long wait for the menu we've ordered primi ravioli and secondi pork with additional sides as Secondi come without side. Ravioli was the only light during this dinner. Really nice. But... For secondi we had to wait around 40min. No one gave us notice during that time. No apology again when it arrived. The pork was dry as we're the potatoes also oversalted. Read moreHad lunch here today with a party of 10 and could not more highly recommend La Balestra. Loved the food - the wild boar ragu was excellent and some of the best pasta I’ve had anywhere in Italy. House white wine with lunch was perfect. The meat/cheese board was exactly as you’d expect. Nice salads, always a bonus to have greens with your Italian meal.
I really liked that La Balestra was tucked into a quiet alley. Lovely outdoor dining. We could overhear someone practicing for an opera show and the local kids chatted to us through the daycare fence.
Finished with espressos - perfect meal.
