Baia di Parè - Hotel Ristorante Pizzeria — Restaurant in Valmadrera

What a great little hotel! After much searching I came across the Baia di Paré - it’s just off the beaten track right down the bottom of the right leg of Lake Como near to Lecco. |The hotel is run very efficiently by three very friendly brothers. They all welcomed us warmly in turn as we met them at various times after our arrival. It’s easy to find on the waterfront at Valmadrera. Parking can be hit and miss but we were able to use a space right outside for the first couple of days, or just across the roundabout (2 mins walk) is an inexpensive car park (payable 8am - 8pm).|We had room 203 with a lake view. Good sized room and shower room. Plenty of space for luggage. Good air conditioning. Comfy bed. Everywhere in this hotel is absolutely spotless. |The breakfast room is on the first floor. Every morning a lovely young woman (sorry we didn’t get her name!) made us freshly squeezed OJ and eggs to our liking. We helped ourselves to toast, cold meats, cheese and croissants. There was also yoghurt, cereal, fresh fruit - everything for the perfect continental breakfast. Coffee is self serve from a machine that uses fresh ground coffee. A choice of fruit teas, English breakfast tea and cold milk is also available.|The hotel is used by travellers and also business people - one lady we spoke too frequently stays there when working in the area. |It might not have the frills and frippery of a larger hotel but here the best things come in small packages.|We hope to return in the future. Esperienza allucinante con proprietario arrogante e pieno di ignoranza. Il ristorante “Baia di Parè” a Valmadrera vicino Lecco, propone pizze e cucina di pesce di mare, cosa piuttosto balzana per un posto sito sulle rive del lago di Como, ma tant’è…. essendo in vacanza in quella località decidiamo di provarlo. Il locale è pretenzioso, con prezzi alti e si vuol proporre come posto di “classe”, con i risultati che vado a descrivervi. Con mia moglie prendiamo un antipasto del giorno, composto da crudità di pesce da dividere in due, e due fritti misti. Costo di ogni portata 18 euro. Aggiungiamo 2 ostriche al costo di 4,5 € l’una acqua e vino. Ci presentano un piatto da portata con 2 gamberi sgusciati, due scampi sempre sgusciati, qualche fettina di tonno e qualche fettina di pesce non meglio identificato. Mia moglie comincia dal pesce e dal tonno, li mette nel piatto insieme a uno scampo. Io ho preso i gamberi e noto che non è stato tolto il budellino…..chiamo la cameriera che non dice nulla e immediatamente porta via i gamberi. Apro lo scampo … stessa cosa… non è stato pulito! Il budellino , pieno di ciò che vi immaginate anche in questo caso è lì !Bene in vista! Torna la cameriera e questa volta si scusa , porta via tutto , compreso il piatto di mia moglie con il pesce che ancora non aveva toccato. Arriva il capo cameriere che si comporta in maniera professionale… si scusa fortemente per “l’imperdonabile errore della cucina”, ci dice che “chiaramente non ci verrà fatto pagare il piatto” e che per rimediare , se accettiamo, ci farà ripreparare l’antipasto. Siamo gente di mondo, capita a tutti di sbagliare e d’accordo… accettiamo la proposta. Dopo qualche minuto ci ripresentano lo stesso identico piatto di prima … i due gamberi sono puliti, c’è qualche fettina di tonno, lo scampo è stato pulito male( è lo stesso gli manca una chela) … è restato un pezzettino di budello… Del pesce bianco e del secondo scampo che erano nel piatto di mia moglie portato via nessuna traccia...! Siamo in vacanza… lasciamo perdere, mangiamo i gamberi che si rivelano essere di qualità mediocre, il tonno, e chiaramente lasciamo lo scampo. Arriva il fritto misto, composto soprattutto da anelli di calamaro gommosi ( probabilmente decongelati) e da gamberetti indiani di quelli in busta, con qualche pesciolino fresco. Chiediamo il conto ed ecco che si rivela la classe del proprietario: l’antipasto è nel conto, però ci viene fatto uno sconto di 8 euro!!!! Alla richiesta di nostre spiegazioni il proprietario ci dice che dopottutto qualcosa di quell’antipasto noi l’avevamo mangiata…. Segue mia veemente reazione , chiedo esplicitamente al proprietario se lui mangia i budellini con annesso ripieno naturale … risponde “personalmente non li mangio “ ( li fa mangiare ai suoi clienti) ci invita a i guardare su internet , dove potremo verificare che il pesce crudo non va pulito e così via continuando a sparare sciocchezze, sempre con fare arrogante e senza scusarsi…. Aveva ragione lui… Alla fine il capo cameriere risolve professionalmente la situazione togliendo dal conto altri 10 €. Accetto perché sono in ferie e non ho voglia di continuare oltre, ma avrei dovuto rifiutare di pagare il conto, aspettare l’arrivo dei carabinieri e vedere come...
