Barkalà — Restaurant in Venice

We were tourists who came here due to the good reviews. Didn't realise the chef was famous until we saw him doing an interview on TV! The food was fantastic, wine delicious, and the chef was always smiling and friendly. We came back again the next night. Both nights we were the only ones in the dining area, whereas the majority of other guests were enjoying the cicchetti...

In questi giorni il locale ha 'cambiato look' ed è diventato il punto luminoso di piazza mercato..La cucina, veneziana, curata dallo chef Stefano Aldreghetti in persona richiama la tradizione veneziana del bacaro, tanto da suggerire di cominciare i 'bacaro tour ' da Marghera e poi se proprio si vuole proseguire verso Venezia...Non manca nulla dai cicchetti veneziani e i vini e i pranzi e cene curati nei dettagli con eleganza e cultura, a prezzi per tutti, Sarde in saor, polenta e schie, mazzancolle, risotto spaghetti al nero di seppia e all'astice o con variazioni sul tema, pasta e fagioli trippa, bollito misto, e anche il semplice uovo sodo e chi più ne ha più ne metta, compresi i dolci fatti in casa; alla giornata, all' occasione, chiedere consiglio al Cuoco.. Quindi ora il locale Barkala' è il primo bacaro osteria della terraferma per scelta con possibilità di sala riservata per occasioni particolari ma, per esperienza diretta recente la sala pranzo standard e' bella e accogliente . We ordered the meat and cheese board (two kinds of meat and one kind of cheese) which was fine. But then we ordered the spaghetti with clams and the pasta carbonara. Both were extremely bland and worst of all, the carbonara was topped with chopped up pieces of what seemed like lunch meat ham instead of bacon. We could barely eat 2 bites....
