cicchetteria venexiana — Restaurant in Venice

while staying in Venice for the second time this july 2019, I decided to come by and place an order. I ordered a carbonara order for 2 expecting very small portions, but instead received maybe 2+ kilograms which i was very happy about, it was delicious, definitely recommended. The owner didnt speak much english (although it is Italy after all) at all but it wasnt much of a problem, he was very nice and everything was correct with the order. This is a local bar where the local come by for a drink. The owner also make some pasta . One can't expect to eat fresh fish of the day . The pasta sauce was too oily. And tomatoes tasted rotten. I asked for the only available dish that was mot a pasta and he heated it in micro. Kind of my fault as I should have just left at that moment. He also insisted that I must try his cheap wine. Overall if one like oily food and micro heated dish then it's no problem. One should not expect more than what he can offer. Which is unhealthy...

Piacevole sorpresa. Un locale fuori dal tempo, in cui si respira ancora la genuinità di una gestione familiare. È vero arrivati abbiamo trovato il gestore da solo a servire i tavoli, prendere ordini e preparare i cicchetti (piccoli antipasti misti monoporzione), ma appena si è liberato è uscito fuori e ci ha preparato il tavolo e ha preso l ordine, con una calma e una gentilezza incredibile. Vedevo i clienti abituali entrare e prendere da soli il pane e l acqua, così anche io sono andato a dare una "mano". E ho trovato questa cosa bella, perché alla fine mi sono sentito un po' come in famiglia, dove tutti si aiutano, come se il ristorante fosse parte della quotidianitá di molte di quelle persone, mi mancava molto questa genuinità tipica della nostra cultura. Abbiamo ordinato i cicchetti, tutti preparati dal titolare, con un meraviglioso baccalà mantecato, una pasta con le vongole e cozze, e uno gnocchetto crema di carciofi e gamberi...entrambe le paste mantecate alla perfezione, cremose e saporite, la pasta con le vongole era superba, davvero una rarità.
