Mama L'oca Street Bar — Restaurant in Vicenza

Super sad about last night. We were missing half our reservation due to illness and an emergency. We told our first waitress so they could cut off the extra table and use it. She went and got the owner who was very upset and rightfully so. He told us they had set up the table so we needed to pay the coperto for the missing people. We said no problem, whatever you need. All of us go in here regularly and did not want to upset anyone. No one got mad or complained. It was the right thing to do.

What happened after was not right. When moving the extra table the waitress was grabbing things angrily and slamming stuff around. We got there early so not many around to witness it but still very embarrassing. Another waitress arrived for her shift and the first one was obviously filling her in speaking angrily and gesturing toward us. The 2nd waitress who speaks better English came over to take our food order so I told her please tell them we will pay any fees we need to. She was like it is no problem. I said yes it is they are really mad. Our food came, great as always but I was so upset by then I really could not eat it. Our 2nd waitress came over and said is there something wrong with it? I said no, I'm just too upset to eat it. You can take it. My guess is our bill was at least 300 euros and they seated people at the table we did not use thank God. I was completely embarrassed we were short people and at the scene the first waitress caused. We did not deserve that when we did everything we could to make it right. 2nd waitress was great. We tipped her 20 euro which she did not want to take. On the way out I gave the owner another 20 for the trouble we caused him.

We have been here many times for the euro cup, American car night and bands and always had a great time. I honestly do not know if we will be back after our treatment last night.

Edited to add: I am not the one who made the reservation AND yes 2 people did not feel well. In these times of COVID were not going risk it. FOUR were firefighters who got called out. The entire group were firefighter couples. Our extra table that we didn't use got used and then some as well. We definitely offered to make it right thus not deserving...

My wife and I are American. My wife and I were having a wonderful time at Mama Loca (one of our favorite spots) when she put out her cigarette butt in a beer glass. After an hour, when the bartender picked up the glass to wash it he began to incessantly berate myself and my wife in Italian (which they know we don't understand because we've been there a lot). When I finally realized what he was mad about I couldn't believe the absolute stupidity of an Italian adult bartender at a bar that couldn't understand that somebody put a cigarette butt in a glass. We both apologized twice. He would not stop his verbal assault. Months ago, we gave this bar one of our old beautifully painted motorcycle tanks to put on their bar (because of our admiration of this establishment), which they still displayed to this day. I became mad enough from his nonstop anger to request it back which he refused. He was so upset that my wife put a cigarette butt in a glass that he kicked us out of the bar never to return ("Pay the bill, pay the bill" he said in broken English), which is fine with me because I am Italian (of Italian heritage) and survive most things! I am disgusted by the ignorance of this low IQ idiot that could not realize that rinsing a glass was preferable to losing a client by yelling at them repeatedly! Americans beware! You never know what faux pax you will violate at this place regardless of how many times you've been there. I will never allow myself, let alone, my wife, to be treated this way and will...

Mi è piaciuto molto il posto, cibo buono, bellissima la musica (i Thunderbirds bravissimi) ma non trovo corretto fare pagare 3 euro di coperto a persona, dal momento che il coperto era costituito da una tovaglietta e una salvietta di carta (da precisare che hanno pagato per intero anche le persone che condividevano una porzione di patatine su una sola tovaglietta). Capisco che possa essere un contributo per la band, ma non trovo giusto fare pagare il doppio per una singola tovaglietta. A mio parere sarebbe utile aggiungere personale dal momento che era difficile vedere e fermare i camerieri, almeno per quando ci sono i concerti live. Avrei gradito poter prenotare, dato che eravamo un gruppo di più di 10 persone, ma era possibile solo con consumazione. Sarebbe stato più pratico dal momento che alcune persone hanno dovuto rimanere in piedi, e avevamo chiamato con anticipo.

1. Dal momento che il vostro locale è aperto da 20 anni sono sicuro che lei non sta andando in perdita per organizzare i concerti, che servono appunto ad attirare la clientela. Quindi il concerto non è gratuito ma fa parte delle vostre politiche di marketing e gestione del locale. Come i concerti live sono presenti in molti altri locali che però recuperano il costo sulle consumazioni. Se il coperto si applica a tutti quelli che sono seduti allora avremmo dovuto vedere, dallo scontrino, 14 coperti. Se il coperto si applica per servizio avremmo dovuto vedere 5 coperti, a fronte di 5 ordinazioni. Nel nostro caso il coperto è stato fatto pagare a 7 persone a fronte di 5 ordinazioni, e 5 tovagliette portate. Di posate non si è vista nemmeno l’ombra, perché le ordinazioni erano di 2 patatine fritte e 3 jalapenos, arrivate per altro dopo 25/30 minuti.
2. con noi non è stata fatta nessuna eccezione, il tavolo non era stato riservato e siamo arrivati con largo anticipo (alle 20:50) appunto per avere posti sufficienti. Il tavolo riservato, se ricorda, era proprio di fronte al palco mentre noi ci siamo seduti in fondo.
3. Se come lei dice eravamo in 14 ci è stato assegnato un tavolo da sagra con due panche e altre 2 sedie aggiuntive. Un po’ stretti non crede? Abbiamo aggiunto da noi altre sedie successivamente, ma comunque nel corso della serata alcune persone si sono aggiunte, e altre se ne sono andate appunto perché non volevano stare in piedi. Non pretendo certo che lei ricordi il numero preciso di persone, vista la serata...
