Ristorante il Veliero — Restaurant in Vicenza

We originally went for pizza for lunch but were told that they were not serving pizza at the time. A little sad we were forced to order something different and we were not disappointed. I had the fried calamari while my husband had the salmon with crusted almond topping, with fries. Everything was amazing. Very much the best seafood either of us had in our 2 years in Italy... plus they put a realistic amount of salt on the fries...always a plus.

The venue was gorgeous and very clean and the staff was great.

We dont speak Italian nor did our waiter speak English but they still made it accommodating with English added to their menus.

Very nice restaurant with one of the best pizza “rustica” you will find. Patio available during summer and very nicely decorated. Service here is something worth mentioning, you will be welcomed and seated with smile by a hostess, and served by a waiter and sommelier, which I must add is very rare in this city. Everyone was very professional and kind, definitely a 5 star service! Wine selection is very nice and the food is just exquisite! (NOTE: bilingual review!) Il Veliero, formerly Mexico restaurant, is a great restaurant to visit while in Vicenza. My family and I have been going here for a couple of decades, either to take out pizzas on Saturday nights or to dine in (lunch and dinner). Their pizzas are cooked in the classic firebrick oven and ready in few minutes. No matter what you order, they are delicious. Great selection. They have also a good selection of wines. The seafood is outstanding, so tasteful. Fried seafood mix coming with polenta is one of the dishes I had there. The staff is extremely professional and friendly. The whole atmosphere is typical of an Italian restaurant. A little heads up, there is limited space for parking around. Precedentemente chiamato ristorante Mexico, il Veliero offre sia pesce che pizze. Le pizze sono buonissime, cotte nel modo giusto e velocemente. Il loro servizio è professionale e amichevole, se sbagliano un ordine (raramente) sono disposti a rimediare in fretta. Io e la mia famiglia frequentiamo questo posto da decenni per l'asporto di pizza al Sabato o per mangiare all'interno occasionalmente. Hanno ottimi vini e il pesce è squisito. Un piccolo accorgimento, il parcheggio è limitato alla strada interna quindi a volte è difficile...
