Nonno Cet — Restaurant in Vimercate

I’ve never written a review before, but after this visit, I couldn’t not write one. Such wonderful staff. I only came in for lunch, so I can’t judge the more elaborate dinner dishes. But even just for lunch, they went all the way to personally translate the menu to English! The staff was super friendly and courteous. And the food better than any lunch I’ve had in Italy so far. And with the cozy atmosphere, I felt right at home. The dark wooden floor, ceiling, and furniture along with the decor consisting of all these personal items and trinkets made the place feel alive. Oreno, un paesino signorile nel vimercatese. Strade silenziose e ville signorili. Location perfetta per una sera di inizio estate fra amici. Il locale è articolato su più piccole sale comunicanti fra loro. Buona acustica, muri in pietra e soffitto con travi a vista. Personale cordiale che ci offre un bicchierino di prosecco purtroppo non freschissimo e un entrè gustosa e ben impiantata anche se con semplicità. Buono l'antipasto ma più gustosa la giardiniera croccante che l'accompagnava. Fuori menù optiamo per dell'ottimo branzino, freschissimo, con pistacchi di Bronte e pomodorini pachino...delizioso ma non sufficiente a placare la fame. Concludiamo con un cestino di croccante, frutti bi bosco e gelato alla pera:una goduria per il palato! Delicato ma buonissimo... Lo chef sollecito e presente, sembrava assomigliare al più noto Cracco anche nei modi a tratti insofferenti al nostro chiedere. Complessivamente una buona esperienza che ripeteremo in autunno/inverno perché ci piace immaginare il calore del camino, la luce soffusa delle lampade e quell'aria un pò retro di un posto antico, vissuto... con la segreta speranza che non...

My birthday treat but unfortunately not impressed, poor service (I have sent a plate back because the figs had a skin on and they bring them back skinless without asking me) too small for privacy, food mediocre and poor service from the staff. I would have paid an Osteria price but...
