APNA PUNJAB RISTORANTE — Restaurant in Vittorio Veneto

Friday evening we got into this restaurant and we were decieved. Upon seeing a 4.8 rating restaurant in the area we couldn't believe it. And if something looks too good to be true, it usually isn't.

Ignoring the sad looking atmosphere, and the 70 inch screen rotating windows background pictures, giving me temporary blindness, the place looks uninspired.

The waitress was nice enough but sadly got our orders completely wrong.

First of all the food came way too quickly (less than 10 minutes) which is very strange.

My partner didn't ask for spicy food, she got extra spicy, I wanted spicy and got plain. Cheesy pita bread came without the cheese, two tap waters got us a bottled still water.

Chicken Tikka was a crime against Indian people, I have never tasted dryer meat in my life. Imagine over frying chicken, and then leave it on the warm part of the grill for about half a day, it came with a small ramekin of sauce that was not enough for two bites of the dreaded chicken. No sauce, no juice. Nothing.

The falafel was unimaginative and dull.

After we got the food, the waiters didn't bother with us until we requested the bill.

The fact that this restaurant has this high rating would have me believe the ratings are faked. It is possible to mess up an order, or have a slip up, but this domino effect of disasterus events leads me to believe they are fabricating their reputation. It saddens me to see the lack of love and passion for Indian food that this establishment offers. Indian food is supposed to be juicy, tasty, bursting with flavours, none of that was found here. I absolutely love this restaurant. It's my new "Happy Place." While it's easy to find good Italian food everywhere in Italy, it's hard to find good ethnic food. Apna Punjab just knock it out of the ballpark. The food is exquisite - and not just the vegetarian stuff everyone is raving about - the meat dishes are even better - Butter Chicken is exceptional, only to be outdone by Chicken Madras. The sauces are the secret. But the service, and atmosphere are equally inviting, making it a dining experience you will want to return and repeat many many times. one of the best indian/pakilstani places i have ever been to, and i have been to india and the family of my best friend of 20 years is from the Kashmir region, so i know! 😋😋 very tasty, and just the right amount spiciness for us. reasonably priced! so good that tonight we went back and got more take out. i wish the places we've got in trieste (where we live) were like tbis! ☹️ if we ever come back to vittorio veneto, we for sure will come back...
