A Warning to Tourists!!!!!
I had an incredibly disappointing experience at Junglee Seafood and would strongly caution anyone, especially tourists, to avoid this establishment. My visit was riddled with dishonesty, poor service, and outright disrespect.
First and foremost, the pricing was shockingly exploitative. I was charged a staggering US$60 for a small, over-fried snapper, which locals were openly paying only US$15 for. It was clear I was being overcharged because I was a tourist—a blatant scam. The entire bill came to an outrageous US$150 for one small fried snapper, four pieces of oxtail, a single cup of rice, and a small local lobster. This pricing is beyond unreasonable and feels like deliberate extortion.
The service was equally abysmal. I waited over 2 HOURS for my food, all while watching others—seemingly locals—being served promptly. It was an incredibly isolating and frustrating experience. To add insult to injury, I couldn’t help but feel racially profiled throughout my visit, with clear preferential treatment given to others.
The quality of the food didn’t even remotely justify the excessive cost. The snapper was overcooked to the point of being almost inedible, and the rest of the meal was average at best.
Junglee Seafood exemplifies everything that’s wrong with businesses targeting tourists. Their dishonesty, lack of integrity, and disregard for fairness made this one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. Do yourself a favor—save your time, money, and dignity by...
Read moreSix of us turned up to eat ready to spend $50,000/$60,000 JA dollars. Our young server gave us menus with the price list and by the time we were ready to order she informed us that those prices are not the recent ones and began to reel of a price list from her head ranging from $1,000 _$2,000 JA dollars more for each menu. Eventually we left because, eg. Lobster comes with complimentary side dish eg rice and peas, pumpkin rice, sweet potato mash, white rice etc. After taking our orders she then told us they had no pumpkin rice and that they did not have enough rice and peas for us six. No problem, can we have some festivals instead. Only to be told it will cost us $300JA for 3🤔 .. oh and we don't have any pumpkin rice either but we have white rice and pumpkin. No thank you. Her attitude changed and from there on it was , " it's cash only our card machine is not working blah, blah, blah. All 6 of us from London left with our money and cards in our pockets and handbag and went to a nice little place called Linda's, that did all the things they had on their menu for a fraction of the price and customer service to go along with it. I wonder if they are that successful they can afford to treat their customers with such poor customer service and lose thousands in JA on a daily basis. Come on Jangalee Seafood FIX UP, you came highly recommended but we left feeling...
Read moreSo while i take no issue with the food, my wife and I had the fish in curry sauce, i do take issue with the establishments ethics. We placed our order now on the menu it says next to the fish JM $2000-3500 medium / extra large.
We spoke directly to the chef when we placed our order and not once did he ask us size and we assumed we would get the medium because we never asked for the XL. When the food was brought out the fish was average size, definitely not extra large!
When the bill came though you can guess what we were charged for... THE EXTRA LARGE! When we asked the chef the difference and when he explained the medium size it was literally what we just got.
This place is a total SCAM! Avoid if you're a tourist because here they make sure to charge you double, even though you never asked for it, and never got it!
I'm sorry $65 US for a couple of curry fish, an order of french fries, bammy and 2 drinks is NUTS! Especially at a shack on the side...
