Sometimes, all you need is a quick, comforting bowl of ramenâand Kyoto Kitashirakawa Ramen Kairikiya in Chigasaki delivers just that, with a few surprises along the way.
The parking lot was conveniently half-empty when I arrived, a small stroke of luck that set the tone for a smooth visit. Orders are taken the old-fashioned wayâby staff, not machineâwhich felt refreshingly personal, even if the woman taking my order seemed less than thrilled to be there. Still, everything went off without a hitch.
The food arrived swiftly: a shoyu ramen with egg and a side of five gyoza. The thin noodles were perfectly cooked, slurping beautifully and holding just enough broth. While the soup leaned a touch too salty for my taste, the array of free toppingsâespecially the minced garlic and fresh onionsâoffered a way to adjust and personalize the bowl. The meat, though thin as expected, was scant and forgettable, hiding somewhere under the noodles like a shy guest.
A thoughtful QR code on the menu offered translations in English, Chinese, and Koreanâideal for non-Japanese speakers. And unlike many ramen joints, they accept credit cards, which earns them bonus points in convenience.
All in all, a solid spot for a fast, filling meal with enough charm in the details to warrant a return.

Rating: â â â â â A satisfying experience overall with great noodles and thoughtful features, though a saltier broth and sparse meat hold it back from a perfect score.

Fried rice has not much flavor in it. I didnât like that much. Location is handy for the drivers but basically out of nowhere. Would I go...
