Ramen Yamaokaya — Restaurant in Chitose

Located at the outskirts of Chitose, but fairly close to all the rental car lots near the New Chitose Airport, this is a 24 hour ramen shop serving up some of the local favorites. Hokkaido is famed for their miso based ramens and that's exactly what I had. The soup broth was rich and creamy and was extremely warming going down as it was winter and snowing outside. The toppings of leeks, pork and seaweed were simple but elevated the overall experience of the ramen. We also opted for some of their gyoza and those were also delectable. Just remember to purchase a ticket for your meal at the machine by the door before sitting down. One of the staff will come over and collect your tickets once seated. The staff spoke almost no English, but we were able to communicate via google translate and they were very patient with us. The seating offered had traditional banquettes or even the Japanese tatami style where you will either need to kneel or sit cross legged at the table. Ultra affordable and delicious, a must go to stop if you're starving right off...

This shop have automatic machines to place your order. The name of the dish is written in English, along with the sample photo.

Once seated, hand over the ticket stub to the waiter. Indicate your choice in the firmness of noodle, richness of the broth and the amount of oil in the broth to the waiter.

Picked the normal for both the richness and amount of oil in the broth and it was a decent taste. The noodles were the thick kind, and the portion was huge. Come with an empty stomach, or order one to share between two person if not it will be too full.

味はともかく24時間営業しているラーメン屋さんはやはりありがたい。 あとJAFの特典なくなったみたいですがスマホでクーポンあるみたいですね。 滅多に山岡家行かないのでインストールしてません(ついにアプリインストールしました)。 キャッシュレス決済可。

2024/01追記 またしても深夜にラーメンが食べたくなって山岡家へ。 深夜なのに5名位店員さんいて相変わらず凄いなぁと思いつつ食券購入。 いつもは醤油系なのでたまには違う味でもと思って味噌チャーシューにネギと味付玉子をトッピング。 流石に1000円を超えてしまいました。 「やっぱ山岡家は醤油かな」と思いつつ完食。 スープがちょっと脂っぽかった気がします。 チャーシューは今時のトロ系じゃない昔ながらのタイプでいいですね。

2024/12追記 深夜に急にラーメン食べたくなったらやっぱり山岡家しかない。 この日は24時過ぎに訪問しましたがカウンターは半分以上埋まってました。 前回は醤油ネギラーメンでしたが今回は醤油ラーメンに白髪ネギと味付玉子をトッピング、麺は硬めで他はそのまま。 そして折角なのでスマホアプリをインストールして餃子をクーポンで追加しました。 店内は若い人が多く活気がありますね。 配膳されるまでの間にQRを読み込んでポイントとアンケート回答して待ちます。 ふたつ合わせても16ポイントなので利用回数少ないとそれ程旨味ないのですが(汗) 今回もそれ程待たずに配膳されました。 醤油ラーメン白髪ネギトッピングは醤油ネギラーメンと比べて10円高くなりますがコロチャーシューではなく普通のチャーシュー1枚なのがミソ。 味はどちらも変わらないです。 今回は途中で辛みそを入れてみましたが泡辣醤か四川豆板醤みたいな感じの味噌臭い感じがして醤油ラーメンにはちょっと合わないかもと思いました。 やっぱり普通に途中でニンニク追加で味変がいいと思いました。 餃子は至って普通かなと思いました。 今回は1000円切りましたのでお得ですね。
