This little cafe offers exactly what is advertised. They have a variety of typical American breakfast/brunch options with authentic flavor.
Access: I came here via car for lunch on a weekday with my husband. There is no parking for this place, so we parked at the nearby Terrace Mall. The mall has 1 hour free parking, and it took 10 minutes each way to and from Brunches. With the 40 minutes we had left, we were able to order, get our food, and eat at a relaxed pace.
Atmosphere and Staff: There is an outside patio and bar seating inside. As soon as I walked in, I was hit with a wave of nostalgia. Somehow, the inside smells exactly like an American diner. The only menu is up at the register, which made me a little nervous since we had to browse the menu and immediately decide as the woman was waiting for us. However, she was really friendly and I could tell she would back off a little bit as to make us not feel pressured, yet still was extremely attentive.
Food: My husband ordered the breakfast plate, since it seemed like a good way to sample what this cafe had to offer. I ordered the breakfast burrito, since that is one of my all time breakfast favorites. With the breakfast plate, my husband got two pancakes with syrup, scrambled eggs, hashed potatoes, sausage links, and bacon. The pancakes were large and fluffy. When the lady brought us the food, she made sure to tell us to let them know if we needed more syrup. Personally, I thought scrambled eggs were a bit overcooked (not at all gooey), and the bacon could have been cooked a bit more (I like it crispy). All in all, everything tasted authentically American, like from a real diner.
My breakfast burrito was stuffed with potato, scrambled eggs, bits of sausage, cheese, onion, and tomato (I suspect there was some salsa thrown in there for good measure). It came with a side of salsa and chips. My burrito was so stuffed that I would probably guess there was actually more egg, potato, and sausage than on my husbands breakfast plate. The flavor was great, but one observation was that it was weirdly gooey. I actually quite enjoyed it, since it meant the egg was extra gooey, and the cheese was extra gooey. The tortilla chips were pretty standard. The base of the salsa tasted pretty standard too (like store-bought), but it had pieces of fresh tomato and peppers.
Value: The quantity of the food was quite generous (for Japan), and the prices were very reasonable. In total, we paid around ¥2100. My husband's plate was a little over ¥1000 and mine must have been around ¥700. We both also got the drink set (+¥200 for a drink). Considering I could have just gotten a burrito with chips and salsa for ¥700, I would say that is incredibly good value for Japan.
Overall: The food here is probably 4/5, but with the reasonable prices and the staff being extremely attentive and kind, I am compelled to give a full 5 stars. American themed cafes have been quite trendy in Japan, but this place isn't trying to do something it doesn't understand. It's not fine dining and it's not trying to get on your instagram. Come here if you want a cozy and laid back taste of an American brunch.
It's true that a lot of the things tastes store-bought (from Costco as one commenter mentioned). To be fair, Costco is a main importer of foreign (especially American) foods and it caters to many businesses. For the prices offered, it is not unreasonable, considering store-bought and box mixes is how real restaurants in the US stay in...
Read moreSomeone recommended this place and I was really excited to go and get some American style grub. My wife enjoyed the food, I did not. The coffee was alright. But, the food... In a word: mushy. We both got french toast, and they both were sodden with eggs, think mushy wet egg bread. The outside of which seemed to only have been cooked enough to color it. But, it was hard to tell because there was an accident and someone dumped the jar of powdered sugar on our french toast. Now, the hash browns were questionably cooked, colored maybe, but certainly mushy. I asked for my egg to be over medium, and there must have been some misunderstanding, they just cooked the hell out of a sunnyside up egg, which I thought ironic. Our breakfast sausages were nice. I think I've had them from Costco before.
The pie: the pie was nicely seasoned, and the crust was great. But, the theme of mushy continued. The apples in the pie were just mush... And the same powdered sugar accident on top of it all.
All in all, I only ate there one time, and had only one plate. And if you're looking for picture perfect food, 5 stars! It was lovely, my wife took a picture. However, it was like eating the food from a food photoshoot. My wife says she liked it, but we both felt bad afterwards..., Maybe breakfast isn't their...

Brunches is certainly a neighborhood gem that will become the next place with hour long lines in the near future. It is very close to the station and worth visiting. The food is very Americana and portioned well. The option for anytime breakfast pancakes, sandwich melts, and Acai shakes, plus a good selection of cakes to eat or take home. Great welcoming staff. And fun decor. Seating can be limited to bar inside and a few outside tables...
