Sengenchaya Honten — Restaurant in Fujiyoshida

The speciality of this place is a flat udon. I usually like my noodles cooked hard, but here it seems more like they were undercooked than cooked hard. It felt like I was eating uncooked sheets of flour. Apparently this type of noodle is divisive, with some liking it and some not. I fall in the not camp. I’m still not convinced it was supposed to be cooked that way.

We were skeptical about visiting this restaurant. The visit was rewarded with extremely good noodles served in hot pot. One of the best indeed. A little like Chinese la Mian/ flat noodles .
