I have read other reviews, one of which says that there are “three parking lots” across the street. Actually there is only one lot, with perhaps three spaces. If those are filled, you can always park at Mr. Max. Another reviewer says (s)he is a fan from the old place. I am too. In fact it is interesting that the staff still wear T-shirts that read Park Diner, which was the name of the old place. We had gone once or twice while they were open in the old Noma Oike Daiei area. We had gone many times to their predecessor, which had boxes of potatoes piled beside the door (their fries were delicious), and DVDs of U2 concerts playing on huge screens. Hard for any restaurant to stay afloat on Noma Oike, however. That first place had some wooden blocks in the bathroom, arranged to read O-P-E-N. I couldn’t resist rearranging them to read N-O-P-E. At least their “three parking lots” don’t short out the electronic key on my car. Some kind of curse on Noma Oike, I guess. Sorry, but I can’t get used to the Japanese-style steak-swimming-in-bean-sprouts idea. I like my steaks medium well-done, on plates, but with those little bitty self-cookers, you can’t put enough pieces on there to cook for any length of time before it all cools down. They have an interesting poster on the wall. It’s a movie poster of “Joy in the Morning,” starring Richard Chamberlain and Yvette Mimieux (1965). Who can forget seeing Yvette Mimieux in “The Time Machine” when...
