Before I started writing my review, I read other people’s reviews and the infamous owners replies and that got me giggle. lol I enjoyed reading his witty replies a lot. :D It was very interesting to see many customers get upset over little things and cannot get their head around to see their situation from a different perspective. In my opinion, this place was just great! My brother who lives in Fukuoka for more than 20 years took me and my husband here and I was happy to get to know this place. :) As soon as we entered, the owner greeted us in a very friendly way and welcomed us into the corner table with cosy couches by the window. From the window you have a panorama view over the ocean so it was perfect. We ordered cream pasta, bolognaise pizza with aubergine on top, grilled chicken and veges, orange and honey tea, royal milk tea, some mini sweets. Everything was tasty and the potion was not too big or small, it was perfect for all of us to share. Especially I liked the concept that you can get to choose any piece of dessert and pay for the number of pieces you took. Each one is small so you can get to enjoy different types of sweets which was really nice. Another staff who served us food was also friendly and attentive. I and my husband are from Germany and while there are lots of cafes and restaurants in Japan where foreigners are treated badly or awkwardly to say the least, everyone here welcomed us warmly. :) Thank you for the...
Read moreWe went to Sunflower for lunch as a group of 11 female foreign students. Upon arrival, we were informed that they could only accommodate groups of 5 so we gladly broke up our group to 3 tables. We never asked to be seated together or even beside each other. At no time did any of the staff talk to us to ask about our table preferences or to explain why we were not being seated nor were we told we could not be seated even after we divided our group into 3 separate tables. There were some unoccupied tables and the restaurant was not full but despite this, we were made to wait outside in the extreme heat at high noon. We were also explicitly told it would take 30mins. After patiently waiting for more than 30mins without any update as to the status of our table, we had to follow up again and were again told to wait 30mins. It is not true we only waited for 18mins. We were waiting outside in the sun for at least 40 minutes. Hence, we finally decided to transfer to the nearby Moon Moon Moon Cafe where we eventually had a delightful lunch with delicious food and a welcoming ambience. We also had to wait but the staff of Moon Moon Moon Cafe were way nicer, more accommodating, and not at all discriminatory to foreigners. I highly recommended Moon Moon Moon Cafe over this suflower cafe which has lousy customer service, falsely replies to factual reviews, and fights customers who narrate their bad experience with the...
Read moreOn a Friday lunch, under the intense heat of summer and the sun, our group (nine females) was made to wait outside, from opening time (11:30am), even when there were available non-reserved tables inside (we called to try to reserve tables days before, but they refused to reserve for a group of 10-12). We were asked to wait for 30 minutes, but we weren’t seated even after 50 minutes under the sun despite respectful follow-ups. The staff kept saying “30 minutes”, so we decided to transfer to a nearby and way better cafe instead, which allowed us to wait comfortably inside. The cafe’s opening time is also inconsistent, published to be until 10pm but it is actually usually closed by, or even before, 7pm. This was very bad service, and it is definitely not a respectful way to treat customers. It was disappointing and saddening, to say the least. It was supposed to be a nice farewell lunch, but we just waited for nothing. I hope they at least tried to set expectations, or gave us a comfortable area to stay at, instead of dismissing us for...
