Le Pont de Ciel — Restaurant in Gifu

I've lived in Japan for more than six months now and visiting this restaurant was the first time I've been treated bad as a foreigner. One waiter was extremely rude and impolite, treating me and my parents as if we where stupid when we where ordering from the ticket machine, even asking us to leave our spot in the queue, when infact their ordering system was broken with menu items being displayed as out of stock only on the machine. As well as items running out when using it, forcing us to change our order on the spot. When we after a few minutes by the machine had managed to buy three random tickets (since so few items where available), the waitress even tried to hurry us into the restaurant. This with only one group behind us in line who had to wait just a few minutes. My poor dad with his sensitive stomach had no idea what he had ordered since he got so stressed by the disrespectful waitress. If you can, make sure to have eaten before you go up the mountain. Before you can even wait in line you have to order your food at an mashine(only in Japanese). We wrote in the waiting list, that we are 4 people, but as we got seated they told us we had to sit separate. 2 at a table and two at the other side of the restaurant at the counter. I ate a rice pork set, which was really bad. The rice was ok but the porked was drenched in some type of sauce what tasted disgusting. All in all a bad experience, will never come back again. While most tourist attraction restaurants are just meh, this is not the case for this restaurant, I ordered the grilled beef bento, which comes with coleslaw, miso soup with the sauce on the side. The beef is cooked perfectly, medium rare with a bit of char, the meat is tender and soft, sauce on the side is great as well.

While the course is reasonably price, the stunning view adds so much to the reason to dine there.

I would highly recommend this place if you pass by, but beware of long lineup...
