Had an amazing late lunch today at Kantaro. We came in on a cruise ship for the day and I had long ago planned that we would eat at Kantaro to experience fresh sushi in Hakodate. The reviews were accurate, this place is not to be missed. The food was delicious and although there seemed to be no English-speaking staff, we did not experience a single hiccup with their English photo-based menu and ordering forms.
The conveyor belt was not running since we were visiting between lunch and dinner hours, however because it was not busy our items were ready very quickly. and we enjoyed the freshest and tastiest sushi we've ever eaten.
I really appreciated that, being on the larger size physically, I was able to enjoy a meal here with no problem whatsoever. Read moreVery delicious sushi and sashimi, soups with very clear and yummy broth. Fast service. Nice calm atmosphere.
To make things even better, your Australian dollar seems to go a long way.
Worth a try for dinner if you are in Hakodate, particularly if you have your own vehicle and can park onsite.
To be specific about the food, our collective favourite was the shrimp sushi, which our son mistakenly thought was the pork sushi! 😭🙏 Another cracker was the udon noodle soup, which tasted like it was sent from a higher power. Overall very good food and it is great that it is set at an affordable price. 💯👍🏽
If you get a box seat there is a wonderful view of the ocean especially at sunset 🤌🏻🍱🍣🩵
