Visited Kantaro sushi during winter and summer but we seems to always visit on days or timing where, choices of sushi is of minimal (as compared to others who post pictures on their reviews on the variety of sushi choices they ate, envy!!!) Quality of sushi is definitely good plus the beautiful ocean view outside is simply breathtaking 😍. We don't drive so we have to take a taxi ride (which cost about 900yen per trip) from the shinkansen station area. We were very lucky and managed to catch local bus just outside the restaurant and ride back to the shinkansen station area. If you missed one bus, the next one, will be a long wait. 😅

Ok so this statement will be controversial. The love of my life (Hokkaido native) said clearly to me ... This is the best sushi in Japan. She was right, and I can add ... Having eaten sushi all over the world, this is the best I have ever had. Now to qualify .... I have eaten near Jiro quality ... I have eaten Sushi of Gary .... I have eaten the best and the worst and everything in between .... This place is top tier and the price is ridiculously low. And the views are amazing. The best Kaiten on the planet hands down. The only thing better is a full oven baked Maguro head from Heno Heno.

Seems to be popular with the locals. We visited near golden week on saturday 27/04/2024 at 545pm and took a queue number. We had to wait about 35 minutes for a seat at the counter. There was plenty of free parking available and two parking areas. Turnover is quick so no problems with finding a spot. Ordering was done through a tablet and there was english translation available so it was painless. The sushi was delicious and the rice was warm. Unfortunately quite a number of items were sold out. Prices are reasonable and we liked the tsubugai and the fried squid legs.

Worth the visit. Didn't manage to get Otoro at Hakodate Market hence Googled and found this place. Sushi was fresh and my craving for otoro was satisfied (i ordered otoro, uni, seared fluke fin, ebi). The prawn and squid tempura was also good. Easy for tourist with english menu on the ipad. This branch had a beautiful view by the beach. I was lucky there wasn't a queue and was seated at the table with a view overlooking the counter and the beach. If you're going during peak season, be ready to queue. There is a waiting areas with many benches and that says it all!

Kantaro is a Sushi chain restaurant from Hakodate. They now have outlets at New Chitose airport as well as in Tokyo among others. It is a kaiten sushi restaurant, but the quality is really good and the value cannot be beaten. They have an English menu and an English language order form to make it easy for foreigners. There are more high-end sushi restaurants of course, but Kantaro offers the perfect balance of quality and value in my opinion. I can definitely recommend it.

Our host brought us here for early dinner. We were seated on a table with a clear view of the ocean. The conveyor belt was not operational, but all food and drinks were ordered from a tablet and then delivered to the table. We had various different sushi but the highlights for me were the warm sake and the speciality of the day tuna sushi. Amazing food and service! Best sushi I have ever eaten!
