ManasCafe — Restaurant in Higashiizu

We just had two drinks. Sadly the experience was quite terrible.

We (my Japanese boyfriend and I, a south east asian woman) were asked to put our mask on if we don’t eat or drink, completely understandable in times of COVID. However when a lady from a group of two Japanese entered, sat there and ordered while not wearing a mask, the same staff did not say anything.

One has to wonder if the mask wearing rule only applies to foreigners… Disappointing behavior and blatant discrimination. Too bad as we often go to Izu but never again. Stop discriminating foreigners, we pay and behave just like any other...

What a fantastic place, called in for lunch yesterday and my response was just WOW. The food was fantastic, fresh ingredients, thoughtful combinations and amazing value. 国道１３５号線を伊東市から東伊豆町へ向かい、稲取漁港への入口より手前に小さな看板が出ていて気になっていたお店です。 日曜休みらしく、なかなか行けるタイミングがなかったですが、平日休みが取れたので行ってみました。 伊東市を背に、小さな看板がある小道を左折すると左側にお店が出て来ます。 眼下に稲取漁港と大海原が広がる眺望は素晴らしいです。 空いていたので店内とテラス席を選ぶ事が出来たので、テラス席にしました。 海に向かってカウンター席に思えた席は、なんと４人掛け席だそうで、２人で行った我々はＮＧ。 テーブル席に座りました。 今回はランチではなく、食後のデザートを食べるために訪れたので、夫はミニチョコレートパフェを、私は昔ながらの沖縄ぜんざいを注文。 昔ながらの沖縄ぜんざいは金時豆が上に乗っていて、中にも金時豆や白玉や麦が入っているので、よーく混ぜて食べるそうです。 黒蜜と生姜の味がして美味しいです❣️ きな粉も掛けるように言われたので、途中で掛けて味変させてみました。 少し山梨の信玄餅っぽい味になりました。 テラスの下には階段で降りられるようになっていて、海に向かって漕ぎ出すブランコがあったりします。 お店の方に言えば乗らせて貰えるのかな？ まあ、中高年は乗らない方がいいかな？ 店員さん、ちょっと威圧感あって怖いけど、次は食事をしに行きたいと思います。
