[AUG 2017] Seafood diner, so it's easy to enter. The Horse Mackerel and Bonito Rice Bowl (seafood rice bowl: 1,500 yen) had just sold out. So I ordered the Port Meal (sashimi set meal: 1,500 yen).
The amount of sashimi was less than I expected. But the Maguro (tuna) was super delicious! It melted in my mouth! It was worth the effort to come all the way here. On the other hand, as the amount of sashimi was small, I ate mostly raw Shirasu with my rice, and ended up with some leftover sashimi...
[JAN 2019] I took my wife and went there by car. We entered the restaurant at 2 o'clock, but there were quite a few customers. It may have been full by lunchtime. I ordered the Port Meal (1,600 yen), and my wife chose the Boiled Fish Set Meal (1,200 yen).
I was surprised at the amount of boiled fish bones! I had never ordered it before, so it was a new discovery for me. And the sweet and salty seasoning was amazing! it went well with rice.
On the other hand, the fried horse mackerel of the Port Meal was very nice! It was naturally sweet and had no fishy smell! It was a shame that it was only half a fish. I highly recommend the Boiled Fish Set Meal. If you like fish,...
Read moreOn our way to Hakone, we made a lunch stop at Abusan, an unassuming gem of a restaurant that might easily be overlooked from the outside but offers a truly delightful dining experience.
Abusan serves a small selection of standard set meals, and while there’s no English menu, a translator app made ordering hassle-free. We opted for the fried fish set, steamed fish set, and sashimi set, each of which was meticulously prepared by a skilled chef right after ordering.
One standout feature is the option to choose your rice portion size—small, regular, or large—to suit your appetite. We found even the regular portion of rich very generous. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and made with evident care. It was easily one of the best meals we had during our trip.
While there’s no parking directly in front of the restaurant, a paid public parking lot is conveniently located just 150 meters away. Cash only. For those passing through the area, Abusan is a must-visit spot for an authentic and...
Read moreLocal Izakaya that serves great lunch sets featuring fish from the local fishing port! I loved sitting at the counter and watching the owner prep everything right in front of me. The Minatomeshi set has assorted sashimi for the day plus a fried fish katsu. It happened to include Nama Shirasu (raw baby sardines) when I went, a Shonan specialty only available on certain days when it’s in season. The set also comes with rice and osuimono soup. ¥2300 for this lunch set but I felt like it was well worth it. It’s pretty local so don’t go in expecting any...
