はな膳 市川大野店 — Restaurant in Ichikawa

Decided we wanted to try somewhere new and Noriko found this restaurant only a short car ride away. This restaurant appears to be popular as it has 2 car parks but we went there around 2.45pm and it wasn't busy although we had to wait 5 minutes while they prepared a table. There are lots of tables and some small private type rooms. The seats are comfortable and the tables are nice and big. We ordered the maguro steak and sashimi. Both really delicious and sashimi was cut nice and thick! The maguro, aji, buri and snapper were all absolutely lovely!

I am from Australia, Sydney. Last year we went to Hanazen in 2024 January to celebrate my mother’s birthday. This location was chosen by one of my Japanese cousins as it’s closer to where we were staying. I give this 5/5 for comfort and style and food. I really like how the dining hall is setup. The food is excellent as expected from a top tier restaurant and it’s really affordable. You can’t go wrong with this one. (English follows Japanese) 千葉県北西部を中心に展開している「はな膳」の市川大野店。和食、懐石、膳料理が中心で、「和室の個室」「テーブルの個室」「通常のテーブル席」など席のバリエーションが広いのが特徴。非常に不便な場所にあるので、車以外では行く手段がないが、この店舗の場合、近くに市川市霊園と介護施設があり、その精進落としや見舞い客などの需要もあるようだ。価格帯は一般のファミリーレストランより少しだけ高め。ただ、料理の質は全般的に高く近隣でも人気があるようで、夕食時には結構混雑する。このため、個室を利用したい場合には予約が必要。他の店舗は知らないが、この店舗についてひとことでいうと「雑然としている」。入り口脇には古びたガラスケースに、「今でも売っているのか」と疑うほど古びた土産菓子が飾られているし、入り口付近の待合室は安っぽい飾りと枯れかけた観葉植物が置かれ、さらにレジ付近は書類等の収納が汚く、バックヤードが丸見え。また、通常のテーブル席や内装や床なども全体的に古びている。一方、個室は比較的新しいようで快適。付近にキチンとした和食が食べられるリーズナブルな店がない地域なので繁盛しているようだが、正直言って、「どうしても近所で和食が食べたい」という時に、消去法で遅ぶん外行く気にはならない。

This is one of Japanese Wa-Shoku, Kaiseki and Zen food restaurant "Hana-Zen" chain which are mainly deployed in North-West region of Chiba. They have several type of seat, "Japanese style private rooms”, “Table style private rooms” and general table seats, is very good. You can reach there only by car because it is located in remote area from any stations. But it is useful for visitors of nearby cemetery and hospital. Price range is a little bit higher than that of family restaurants. Quality of foods are fairly good. As it is crowded in dinner time, if you want to eat at the private room, you should make reservation. My impression about this restaurant is in brief "mess”. There is a show-case which includes old sample of souvenir which I wondered if it was still sold, waiting space inside the entrance is with strange cheap decorations and withered plant, there are many documents in a mess around the cashier, and you can see the backyard from there.
