My husband and I had dinner 2 days ago, the food was not bad, however, I would like to make a comment on their service and attitude.
We did not make reservation, so we walk-in to see if any luck. When we arrived, we saw there was only 1 table of guests and all other tables were empty. Then I walked into the restaurant first, my husband was about 1.5meters behind me closing the restaurant door, I told the staff that we had no reservation, she just walked pass me and went to my husband, tell him that “we are a wine bar not a restaurant.”
First, it was very awkward and impolite of her that she was not responding to me when I was the one talking to her, instead just walked away and talked to my husband.
Second, we couldn’t understand what she meant by they were not a restaurant, our first thought was maybe the shop has been taken over by another owner and turned it into a wine bar, however, it was obvious that the other table was having a meal. Then we clarified with the staff that when she said ‘we are not a restaurant’, does it mean they had no food to serve? Then she responded they had some snacks only, then I started showing her this page in google and the picture of food, and asked if they had those food items, and it turned out she just meant some items were not available. We were fine with that since it did not impact the items we planned to order, so awaited to be seated.
Then, she started to act weird again, she said ‘if we don’t drink wine, we cannot enter.’ We didn’t understand again, anyway, we also planned to drink wine, so we didn’t bother, but what’s weird was that after we sat down and checked out the menu, there were indeed drinks without alcohol, such as soft drink and iced tea, if guests who do not drink wine cannot enter their restaurant, why do they have non-alcoholic items in the menu?
The experience at the start of our meal was not pleasant at all.
For food, they were not bad, just the sauce of bistecca...
