Asahiya — Restaurant in Itoshima

Had a wonderful experience here today (January 5, Sunday). I almost decided not to eat at Itoshima anymore during my bike ride because the only open restaurant I saw that had seafood had a waitlist of 2 pages. But I stumbled upon this place on the walk back.

Ordered the sashimi set meal and still got to have fresh seafood ✨ Very delicious! Best part was how friendly the staff were. Fujiko was very welcoming and made effort to converse with me despite the language barrier. I also got to meet Emi (not sure if I am spelling her name right) who was also very friendly. I notice that the staff make an effort to talk to the customers and ask how their experience is. Also like how quiet and more intimate the environment of the restaurant was.

Today’s lunch at Asahiya was an amazing experience. Food was perfect, the service was impeccable, friendly and professional.

We had tempura and sashimi which came with a lovely fish soup, rice and seaweeds and a variety of pickles. All ingredients fresh and with surprising flavours.

糸島のこのエリアはどこもお客様でごった返しの状態でした。ウェイティングリストに名前を書いた状態で数店舗回りましたが、どこも平均して1時間待ちでした。そのような中でぐるぐるとエリア内を回りながらようやく入店できたのが朝日屋さんでした。ピークタイムを過ぎたタイミングでしたので「まだランチやってありますか？」と訊ねると、「ご入店はできますが、料理の方が20分以上はお待ちいただくことになりますが大丈夫ですか？」と言われました。座れるだけで有難かったので「はい。大丈夫です」と即答し、生簀を囲むカウンター席に通してもらいました。お刺身、天ぷら，煮付け、ふりかけ、茶碗蒸しのどれも美味しかったです。おかずが多かったのでご飯も特盛にしていただきました。
