Very reasonable oyster BBQ place. Prices were about 1000 yen for a kilo of oysters. Squid was available for 500-650 depending on size. Shrimp about 350. Scallops about 400 and other things were also available. The place is pretty relaxed about people bringing their own beer and rice balls. Technically it says you shouldn’t bring things you can cook but people do. Oyster size is good and they were very fresh. Great place but very busy so get in there before 12:00. You can access by car or a short walk from the Tenjin to Karatsu line. There are toilets on site and they will give you jackets to stop your clothes...

I visited Kaki no Masuda – Zenkoumaru in Itoshima after a local friend recommended it. It took about an hour and a half from Tenjin by train and a 15-minute walk from the station — but when you arrive, you’re greeted by the sea breeze and a whole village of oyster huts. Truly amazing!
The oysters were plump and full of ocean flavor. I brought my own Chablis, extra virgin olive oil, smoked salt, lemon, and soy sauce — perfect pairing! The scallops grilled with butter soy sauce were heavenly, and adding rice to the shell with melted butter was simply divine.
The sound of the waves, the crackling charcoal, the smell of the sea — everything felt like luxury. An unforgettable experience in Itoshima. Highly recommended for...
