These oysters huts are located right next to the coastline of Itoshima. And good amount of parking spots at the front. It's about 40 minutes drive from Tenjin. Once you arrive, you will see many oyster huts lined up with a person standing in front of them greeting for you to come in.
Here at "Noburin" oyster hut, you get plenty of fresh seafood selection such as oysters, scallops, squids, prawns, sea snails. The staff also provide you all the necessary tools - charcoal grills, cotton gloves, knives, tongs. Be sure to wear their yellow jacket to protect your own clothes from any spills and charcoal dust that flies from the grill.
This is all self-serve and you grill everything yourself. Shucking oysters probably the most difficult task. But grilling seafood is the fun part. You can add some soy sauce, butter or ponzu (citrus sauce) to seafood while it's cooking. For squids, you can ask for mayonnaise as a dipping sauce. My choice of seasoning combination would be butter and soy sauce. Man, they are absolutely perfect for scallops and oysters.
I couldn't help it but to order some rice balls too, it's good to eat along with grilled seafood.
By far the most delicious, freshest oysters I ever had in my life. Scallops and squids were unforgettable as well.
These oyster huts only open during the season, which is around November to later March. So if you love seafood and happen to visit Fukuoka during winter season, be sure to visit oyster huts! It's a perfect way to enjoy the local seafood scenes with the locals.
I wish my foodie life could be this exciting all the time. It just too bad, going back to reality world in U.S. craving for fresh grilled oysters every...
Read moreThere are a lot of shops serving raw seafood for “grilling on your own” in this area. We chose this one because there are a bunch of people having lunch inside. We ordered a number of seafood. Oysters flesh are small in size but taste sweet and fresh, so does the abalone and the frozen scallop (surprise! surprise!). My favourite is the squid, which we ordered two. Grilled to just right would make it juicy, grilled to a bit dry would make it like a dried squid snack. Clams and the larger scallops are just ok. Rice are awfully bad and please don’t order it. As the seafood are seasonal, the shops won’t open in summer and the seafood definitely will vary...
Read moreSeasonal BBQ Hut offering live/fresh seafood at good CP experience. Reservations is recommended especially on weekends to get better seats inside the hut. Put on the yellow jackets at entrance and store your personal belongings away from charcoal ashes under the wooden bench if you are seated alongside the wall. You can bring your own sauces/seasonings and drinks at no additional cost. A tip, gloves and knives are provided so shuck your oysters before grilling to prevent hot shell burst and dress them in your own sauces/seasoning for better taste. Overall a fun and interactive meal...
