Black Pork Cuisine Juan Arata Branch — Restaurant in Kagoshima

When we arrived Kagoshima, the most recommended dinning place popped up from google maps is this Japanese style restaurant. The restaurant provides free parking, so driving to the restaurant is not a trouble. Needless to say, the service is perfect with passionate and active waitress, and even they can provide some suggestions to the new comers. Also, English speaking waitresses are there to service foreign customers.

I suggest to order the trio of deep fried fillet, black beef, black pork, and black chicken. Each is served with different sauces, and of course they are all fresh...

First meal in Kagoshima and it does not disappoint. The pork cutlet set and the combination set offer the varieties of signature dishes of Kagoshima. The pork is soft and tender. Except the fatty end portion, it does not taste greasy at all. Really enjoy the freshness of the cabbage salad. They close after lunch between 3pm and 5pm. We got in at 2:20pm and finished at 3:15pm and they serve us very well till we leave. One of the waitress has a tag to indicate she’s in training. This is an amazing lunch experience....

First time being charged foreigners tax.

Great food and atmosphere, but disappointed by unexpected foreigner 10 % tax.

The english and korean menu had no mention of a foreigner tax, and I was only informed of it at the checkout. This lack of transparency is disappointing, especially considering the excellent food and service.

I hope the restaurant will be more upfront with customers about this charge...
