Tsukiji Harenohi — Restaurant in Karuizawa

Was so happy to stumble upon this spot on a Saturday evening when hunting for something gluten free to eat! The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. We got the five cuts of waygu beef which was delicious, plain vegetables and side of rice and just used salt and pepper to make it gluten free for me. My husband who eats gluten enjoyed the sauces and egg drop soup. Only downside is it’s not vibe -y it’s a restaurant in an outlet mall but was delicious and friendly staff and accommodating for both our child, our lack of Japanese language and my gluten free dietary restrictions that are tough to accommodate for in Japan. Quite dismayed with my meal here. I have been traveling in Nagano Japan for the past 14 days. This is the first meal that made me disappointed. I got the 1900¥ sashimi bowl. The rice was not very tasty and the sashimi (scallop, tuna, salmon, white fish, crab) also did not have a powerful, compelling taste. I tried the eel rice, the Sake, and the tempura. Fresh, and the eel 'melted' instantly on entering the mouth, soft and nice. The rice was good with some sweet sauce. Warm Sake was good too. The tempura also tasted good with the sauced dry salt. Waitresses responded quickly on requests with patience. All at reasonable price....
