Hotel is located 15 min walk from the Karuizawa station. The road is flat but can be a bit bumpy with luggages but still an ok walk. After arrival, I realized there’s shuttle bus before 12pm and after 2pm to station & from the hotel. But we arrived after 12pm anyway so we missed the shuttle. |The elderly gentleman counter staff was very friendly and spoke good English. |The hotel is also well situated 10 min walk to Kumoba Pond, 20 min walk to Karuizawa Ginza and nearby there’s also some eateries, convenience stores, even Macdonald across the road. You won’t go hungry. |Easy access to the Karuizawa Prince outlet mall also near the train station. |The room for 3 was very spacious. There’s also a small kitchenette and veranda. |The layout of the hotel is a bit tiring to walk to the elevator because it’s a square with only 1 elevator at the center. |The basement public Onsen bath was nice. Spacious enough and had many outdoor bath tub to enjoy hot bath soaking in the cool autumn weather. But too bad there’s no view of anything from the bath. You can hear birds though in the morning. |Wouldn’t mind staying here again if I’m back...
Read moreSome spots in the room could be cleaner, especially the mold in the bathroom. However, this is offset by the fact that they have a nice bath house, and the bathroom is therefore unlikely to be used. Also the room is quite big and has a balcony.
The hotel is in the shape of a square doughnut, with a courtyard in the middle. the rooms are looking either inward or outward. The rooms looking inward still have a view onto the courtyard. The rooms on the outer ring have a view onto the street or neighbours.
Public bath is good, and comes with sauna and a few outdoor baths. The outdoor baths do not have any kind of view.
Parking garage is easy to use, but there is also parking space on the other side of the side street.
If you wish, you can skip room cleaning, for which they will give you a ¥500 coupon for every cleaning skipped, to be used at the gift shop. Prices there are decent but the selection could be better.
Breakfast and dinner are quite expensive, so I arranged my own. There is a big supermarket just one block over, which might have everything to prepare a breakfast. You could also use the Macca's across the road,...
Read moreI have been thinking about this review for some time. Cyprus Hotel feels like a place that used to be really nice, but has been forgotten about for years. Now it’s a weird combination of grand and tired looking. ||My room was very spacious, clean and some of the furniture looked very modern and new. Then again; the rest of the furniture had seen better days. The view from my window (to be "back yard" with beautiful lights) was really nice, AC worked well and it was quiet during the night. But; this was one of the more "expensive" hotels during my trip - and definitely the most underwhelming. ||Location was OK! I walked from the train station in 15-20 minutes, and used 30 minutes walking in to town. Delicia and McDonald’s are a few minutes’ walk from the hotel.||Receptionists were all friendly, offering a welcome drink and carrying my suitcase to the room before I returned from a walk. | |Would probably stay here again, but lower my...
