For context I’m from southern CA where there is a lot of yummy Mexican food. I love Mexican food and have had it from many authentic places but I can’t claim to be a connoisseur. I’m just your average food enjoyer.
Every mouthful of what we ordered was a delight, a bit on the salty side but that’s the way I like it. Sometimes chicken can be dry. Not this place. It was tender, juicy, and well seasoned. So was the beef. I could taste a fresh lime flavor balanced with the right amount of saltiness. You would think the potato wedges would be too potatoey as compared to regular string shaped fries. Actually they were not too potatoey and struck a good balance with the other ingredients in both dishes we ordered. Their homemade hot sauce was tasty but not spicy in the slightest. I’d be very pleased if they fixed that. The guacamole was really yummy. The fresh lime and avocado really came through. The burrito was also not stuffed with rice as filler. I enjoy rice in my burritos but this one didn’t need it. The tortilla used to wrap the burrito was good. Not a typical store-bought one, thin but sturdy and tasty enough to hold everything together both structurally and flavorwise.
The smoothie was tasty. I could taste all the things listed in the ingredient list and it helped to wash down the heavy meal.
The atmosphere of the shop is spacious and the decorations are nostalgic for me. It had an American feel. There are not that many seats. Multiple people came by to get take out. Customers were striking up conversation with the owner so it’s a comfortable place to eat.
Finally, the price is pretty exorbitant for a burrito / fries but they did not hold back on the quality of ingredients and the flavor and they seem to be a small and local restaurant so I’ll give them a pass. When my wallet is feeling up to it I hope to be back to try the wet burrito and pork...
Read moreLittle hole-in-the-wall restaurant with a cozy ambience and appetizing food. Have had quite a lot of burritos and a couple other dishes here for the past 3 years or so mostly for takeouts. When I ordered California burritos in San Diego several years ago, they were around $9 and almost twice the size, so I feel the prices here are way too expensive…😣 (The portion is actually just right for me, only the price is the problem.)
However, since there aren’t any other decent burrito (or even Mexican) restaurants that I know of in this vicinity, I can’t resist the cravings and keep coming back. I’d be lost without this place! It would be nice to have some combo meals that are great value at least during lunch hours or a loyalty card of some sort.
Overall, I like the flavor and the combination of each ingredient makes my mouth filled with tasty goodness😋 In my opinion, the more the ingredients, the better, so though I absolutely love the pico de gallo on top of the current enchilada style burritos, for the inside, I preferred the old version with avocado, corn and tomatoes as well. (But I couldn’t afford if they got any pricier…!!)
Personally, I wish there weren’t any fat, skin or sinew on meat because I have to pick them out one by one… Also, it would be even better if there were more cheese and the French fries were a bit crispier if possible. New additions to the menu would always be welcome! If you are a fan of alcohol drinks, they seem to have some quality choices, so give them a try, too. No credit cards accepted as of yet.

Read moreAfter reading several reviews I decided to go to this Burrito shop. Taking almost an hour door to door I finally made it, empty stomach and ready for a Mexican feast. The first thing I noticed was that the food wasn't exactly cheap. Living in San Francisco most of my life, eating Burritos in the city is like having Yakisoba in Japan. Plentiful and almost full proof almost anywhere and mostly inexpensive. I ordered the steak Carne Asada burrito, at almost 20 bucks my first thought was it should be massive . Unfortunately although the meat was good, the burrito itself was roughly the size of two Onigiri. Japanese rice balls. No chips either, you can probably order some but at another few bucks for a small handful, hmmmmm. In the U.S. I could barely finish one, but here it was swallowed in a few bites. I was not going to order another one to satisfy my hunger. Visualy very authentic, taste and size wise, a different story. Nice place and...
