Pony's Toy — Restaurant in Kikugawa

I wish I could write this review in perfect Japanese but I'll just hope Google translate does a decent job. If you find yourself in beautiful Shizuoka prefecture you cannot go wrong stopping here for a bite to eat or to rest and have a drink. I frequented this heartfelt cafe in the early 2000s but have been back as recently as 2014 and it has only aged well. First of all if you like live music check to see when Pony's Toy will host a performance. I have been to venues all over the world and there is something truly magical about hearing live music at Pony's Toy. The food here is terrific (Rokomoko, curry and cheese baked spaghetti, their salads too), if you are missing western desserts they have amazing shakes and sundaes. Very pleasant local place. Was visiting briefly to find some local green tea. The owners and customers were very helpful. I was already full so I did not get to try any pizza or other items. Wish I had. It's seems like food is probably good there. I did have a maple parfait and it was good for a snack; and a beer. I can't recall now if they had a full bar, but I think they do. If you end up staying in this area for green tea or whatever; the town is quiet, pretty, and friendly. I think I saw a ryokan or guest house but not sure, was raining and I was moving quick. One of the best restaurants in town. Perhaps the best. Awesome music selection, nice live concert time by time, awesome food and good beverages. What an atmosphere!
