an amazing little breakfast spot in Kin,Okinawa! amazing bagels and friendly owners! please experience if you have not been!
My first time in Okinawa, Japan is just an amazing place. The water is beautiful and the food is amazing. After a week of early morning diving had a day of down time before heading to our next destination. Wanted to find a breakfast place. I did a google search and bagel popped up. Saw the great reviews and the pictures and told my friend this is where we are going. So we made the trip about 20 minutes. I have to say it did not disappoint. It’s a quaint little home with a store front. My pictures will show what we walked into. The man behind counter was super friendly and had a smile on the whole time. We come to find out he is the owner and his wife makes all the food. The bagels are fresh made and the spreads are as well.
The menu was one that I wanted to eat everything on it. I grew up in a bagel restaurant family business in the US. So I can appreciate the business and a good bagel and a popular restaurant. 🙏🏼. Once I found out the owner made the bagels. I wanted to tell her they were amazing. She came out from the back and was so excited hear. She spoke English as well and her husband did also. It helped our communication. But I google translated how amazing and delicious it all was. The smile on the faces of appreciation is so filling. I believe in positive feedback.
I have learned if you tell the people who make the food positive things they really love it and it warms their heart. Especially in small family establishments and here in Okinawa the can’t Thank You! enough.
Our food and experience was so good that we went back the next day before our flight! We talked to the owners more and they are amazingly sweet people. Emi and Genki, we definitely marked you on our places to return to every time we come back to Okinawa.

Read moreRandomly found this cute little bagel shop owned by the sweetest husband and wife. Since it’s right by the American Military base the owners speak English very well and had pictures of all the bagel flavors (huge plus)! The owners were so kind letting us know the bagels may take 15 mins because they had a big pre-order ahead of us which we did not mind.
We ended up ordering what the husband recommended:
Green onion bagel with salmon, cucumber, white onion, capers, and black pepper cream cheese. (So delicious with the salmon & cucumbers tasting so fresh, the white onions weren’t overpowering, capers added the right amount of saltiness, and the black pepper cream cheese added the perfect amount of heat). Definitely a well blend of flavors!
The turmeric bagel with Egg and Hokkaido cream cheese. (This one was our favorite and the star of the show. Simplicity at its FINEST who would of know egg would pair so nicely with Hokkaido cream cheese and the tumeric bagel was probably one of the best bagels we’ve ever had and added a nice spice to our palette. We definitely wanted to keep eating more.
We were on a busy schedule and thought we were going to eat the bagels to-go but they looked so good we couldn’t resist and finished eating them in 5 minutes in our car.
The bagel itself was toasted perfectly and still chewy. It was absolutely phenomenal and one of the best bagels we’ve ever had. They even wrote a cute note on our bag and it was the best way to start off our morning on a positive note. Will definitely be regulars every time we fly out to Okinawa. 1000% recommend this bagel shop, our only regret is not trying it sooner so we can get it more...
Read moreThis is one of my favorite local bagel spots, located in Kin. The homemade bagels made with love and local ingredients are delicious. I thought I had reviewed A Bagels a long time ago but apparently I haven’t. I definitely need to rectify that. It was one of the first spots I fell in love with when I moved on the island. The family run business is very popular and the bagel sandwiches sell out quickly. I recommend going as early as possible. Every time I go I am greeted with a warm and friendly smile from the owners. They take the time to chat and are so kind. I love the messages I get on my bag and appreciate their thoughtfulness. It’s a small shop but there is a small seating area to wait and a two car parking lot. I usually take my bagels home or enjoy them at the Sunrise Kin Beach. There are many delicious sandwiches but my two favorite are the Cajun chicken and the cucumber bagel. Bring your own tumbler and get a discount on your coffee. I highly recommend you visit A Bagels in Kin. You’ll be very...
