This small family-owned restaurant didn’t disappoint! For a spontaneous trip to Kobe the next day we called and had a reservation the next day. Not the fanciest place as it felt like a regular izakaya but it was literally THE BEST BEEF we every had! It was like an orgasm in my mouth. The beef was marbled to perfection paired with some red wine. We ordered their 2 Uni/beef/caviar sushi,A5 Beef carpaccio w/ italian truffle and garlic paste, 2 servings of 200g A5 Sirloin Kobe Steak, Garlic Rice. We paid ¥31,000 for everything including a bottle of a decent red wine. Honestly this is a no brainer. Please do me a favor and just book here!!! The owner and staffs were very accommodating and they even tried to speak English to us even though I can speak a little bit of Japanese.

I've had Kobe beef before and to be honest I never really saw what all the fuss was about. I changed my mind after visiting this Teppanyaki. Without sounding over dramatic, this was probably the best beef I've ever had. The Kobe beef was literally melt in the mouth stuff, marble texture, juicy and full of flavour. It was so good we ordered it again. The service was polite and attentive and they accommodated us even though we didn't reserve a table. If I'm ever passing by this part of the world again I'll definitely stop by once more.

I've had Kobe beef before and to be honest I never really saw what all the fuss was about. I changed my mind after visiting this Teppanyaki. Without sounding over dramatic, this was probably the best beef I've ever had. The Kobe beef was literally melt in the mouth stuff, marble texture, juicy and full of flavour. It was so good we ordered it again. The service was polite and attentive and they accommodated us even though we didn't reserve a table. If I'm ever passing by this part of the world again I'll definitely stop by once more.

TOURISTS BEWARE! The restaurant will overcharge when you pay your bill, so double check the final amount before paying. We ordered 1 Kobe beef 200g (¥9000), 1 Kyushu A5 sirloin steak (¥4200), 1 garlic rice (¥1200) and 2 medium draft beers (¥550). Total should've been ¥15,500, but the lady tried to charge us ¥30,000! Almost double the amount! It couldn't have been a doubling error because it's a whole number and we saw her enter the amount manually into the till when we paid. We noticed what she was trying to do and mentioned the discrepancies. She acted like it was a mistake, but it was very obvious that she tried to overcharge us because we're tourists and non-Japanese (I'm white and my wife is Chinese). Truly a shame they have such shady business practices as the food was delicious. Not sure if the lady was just a bad xenophobic staff member, or one of the family members that owns the restaurant - I'm thinking it's the latter as we did see her taking care of her kids inside the store while we were...

Chris Poole, I completely disagree with your review assertions that “there's now a strict ‘no foreigners’ policy.” and "no non-Japanese are allowed.” My wife is Korean and my kids and I are American. We reserved tables and ate at Daiei in September 2018 and December 2018 and had absolutely no problems with our reservations and ability to eat there. In fact, we enjoyed a lively conversation with our waitress (the owner’s daughter) and she spoke about how much she loved traveling by car in the USA. She also introduced us to her cute toddler son whose father is a New Zealander.
