Best Cafe in Kumamoto! It is run by an old Japanese couple. The food is top tier. I’ve been to this cafe too many times to count. I have tried several items on their menu and it always tastes amazing! Here are some of my recommendations.
Chocolate Cake: It is one of the best chocolate cakes I have ever had in my life. It is the right combination of sweet and bitter from the cocoa. It’s soft but not too soft that it crumbles. It melts in your mouth with a rich flavor.
Cheese Cake: This is very creamy and not overly sweet. Pairing it with their in house tea blend is the perfect combination.
Apple Pie: This is a seasonal item on the menu. The tart crust is more of a cookie texture which is buttery. There is a small layer of cream cheese that is not overpowering. The apples are crispy and fresh. This dessert is more on the sweeter side.
French Toast: When in France, I tried several shops to try their French toast, but this shops French toast is better than anything I have had in France. The quality of the bread is elite. The French toast is sweet enough and it has a nice consistency. One of my favorite items on the menu.
Omurice: By far, their Omurice is the best and I have been to many restaurants in Kumamoto to try their Omurice but nothing compares to the taste. 10/10 I recommend.
For the drinks, their Royal Milk Tea is made to perfections. Their in house blend tastes amazing too. The Viennese coffee is a strong coffee roast blend. The Cocoa drink has a nice flavor of chocolate, and is a bit on the bitter side. The Manterin coffee is really good too!
The vibes of the shop are cozy and welcoming! The owners are super friendly and like getting to know other foreigners. The owner is learning English. If you have time, please stop and visit this...
Read moreThere’s a reason why it’s 5 star rated. The atmosphere is so cozy and welcoming even though we couldn’t speak a word of Japanese. We ordered the hamburger set with an iced coffee, some seasonal pancetta fungi pasta set with the house blend (which we thought we communicated to change with the decaf coffee but failed at lol) but ended up getting three total coffees by accident. It turned out to be an even better surprise because the iced, house and decaf all tasted different. We arrived to eat at 4:00 not knowing that the suizenji jojuen garden closed at 4:30pm for last entrance. So missed the garden totally but we don’t regret it since we found this gem. Thank you to the elderly...
