Sweets Café & Bar “LOUNGE” — Restaurant in Matsumoto

Rude staff member who is either grossly incompetent at her job or just hates non Japanese people. The cafe has a line for outdoor dining and takeout where you pay ahead of time and a line for indoor dining where you pay after your meal. We confirmed with another staff member on the correct line to stand in for our outdoor dining.

Once we got to the register to order, the rude employee told us to get to the back of the dine in line and made us wait in that line while letting a sufficient amount of Japanese people cut us. She initially spoke to us in very fluent English and then proceeded to only speak to us in Japanese for the rest of our interactions while playing dumb like she couldn't understand what we were saying. When we explained to her that we had been told to stand in the outdoor dining line (which was the correct line) she just ignored us and kept talking over us. Once it was again our turn at the register she just left and went back to the dining room and we had to wait around until another employee noticed and came over to help us.

This lady also ended up being the person who served our food. She came out with our food and water and then just... didn't give us our water and walked back with it on her tray.

This was our first encounter with a rude Japanese person after over 3.5 weeks in Japan. It's quite a shame too as the cheesecake is quite good. Generally poor service doesn't dissuade us from dining at an establishment, but then again we've never encountered anybody so explicitly nasty...

i go absolutely crazy for cake so i HAD to visit this cafe when we took a day trip to kamikochi! ambience was super chill, it was situated at a hotel, and as it started raining it was the perfect respite from the biting cold winds outside

what we ordered: rare cheesecake, mango tart, strawberry shortcake (i cant recall the name 😭😭), pot of tea, coffee

the rare cheesecake was so smooth and creamy, but still felt super light. my family enjoyed this cake the most :) my favourite had to be the strawberry cake, i love a fresh cream cake and this ticked all the boxes for me. the cream was so light and fresh, it paired well with the slightly sweet and tart strawberries, and the light and fluffy sponge just tied everything together. it was mouthful after mouthful of pure bliss, i loved this cake to bits. the mango tart was slightly disappointing, maybe we were too used to the sweet mangoes we get in singapore, and these were slightly tart. the tart base was really good though, not soggy at all and wasnt too sweet either. overall would really recommend this cafe to any dessert lover who's visiting kamikochi, though the prices were...

レストランを利用しましたが、サービスが非常に不愉快でした。案内された後、すぐにお冷やおしぼりが出されず、ケーキは5種類ありましたが、注文方法はQRコードでの説明だけでした。登山後で携帯の電源が切れていたため、仕方なくスタッフを呼んで注文しました。その際にも、お冷やおしぼりがまだ出ていないことに気づいていたはずなのに、ケーキが運ばれるまで持ってきませんでした。

別のスタッフがケーキを持ってきた際に「お冷やおしぼりをお願いします」と伝えたにもかかわらず、なかなか来ませんでした。他のスタッフは次々と後から来店したお客様にお冷やおしぼりを出していました。スタッフは4、5人いましたが、私語をしたり、片づけを優先したり、次々と案内したりしていました。

もう耐えられないほど待ったため、再度案内してくれたスタッフにお願いしましたが、家族4人分のうち、3人分しか出してもらえませんでした。終始「お待たせしました」の一言もなく、本当にひどいサービスでした。その影響か、ケーキの味も普通に感じました。このようなサービスで10%のサービス料金は納得できません。

I recently visited a restaurant, but the service was extremely disappointing. After we were seated, no water or wet towels were provided immediately. There were five types of cakes available, but the only explanation on how to order was through a QR code. After hiking, my phone battery was dead, so I had no choice but to call a staff member over to place our order. Even then, despite noticing that no water or wet towels had been served, they didn't bring them until after the cake was served.

When another staff member brought the cake, I asked them for water and wet towels, but they still didn't arrive for quite some time. Meanwhile, other staff members were serving water and wet towels to customers who arrived after us. There were 4 or 5 staff members, but they were chatting, prioritizing cleaning up, and seating new customers, rather than attending to us.

We had waited so long that I couldn't take it anymore, so I asked the staff member who seated us again, but even then, they only brought enough for three people, despite us being a group of four. Throughout the entire experience, there wasn't even a simple "sorry for the wait." It was truly terrible service. Perhaps because of that, the cake tasted just average. Given the poor service, I can't believe they charged a 10%...
