Chiran Chaya — Restaurant in Minamikyushu

If you happen to visit Chiran Peace Museum for Kamikaze Pilots and find yourself hungry, this is one of the very few places where you can actually have a decent meal (and not just snack). This restaurant seemed quite big and offer two kinds of places - Western style and Japanese style. As for the rest of the restaurant, it was bit dusty, but clean.

As for the food, it was pretty standard Japanese - nothing fancy, but also nothing bad. If you know Japanese standard, then you know what I am talking about. 歴史ある素敵なお店でした、ご馳走様でした！

◾️感想💁 ずっと行きたかった知覧へ 知覧特攻平和館へ行く前にお昼を食べて行くことに。特攻隊とも関係性が深いお店。 特攻の母と呼ばれたトメさんの味を引き継いだお店。戦時中から今の令和までトメさんの思いのバトンが繋がっている事、この地から何人もの特攻隊員が戦いに行った事、犠牲になった事、どんな心境でこのお店に特攻隊員が食べに来ていたのか？死に対して怖さはなかったのか。そんな歴史の背景があるお店と知りいろんなことを食事中も考えさせられました。 きっと日々の緊張をほぐせる憩いの場だったのでしょう。

偶然にもそんな歴史ある素敵なお店に立ち寄ることができてとても良い経験ができました。 お食事の蕎麦と黒豚とんかつ、ボリューム満点で美味しかったです。食材が様々値上がりする状況が続き、お店や値段の維持もとても大変だと思いますが、この地でまた同じご飯を食べに来たいと思いますのでこれからも応援しています。 ご馳走様でした！
