I’m not sure why everyone is raving about the apple pie, clearly none of them have actually eaten good apple pie before.
Paid 2010 yen for two slices of apple pie plus one scoop of ice cream, and a coffee.
The coffee tasted bad, the ice cream was hard/icy, as if it had been kept in the freezer too long and had freezer burn.
As for the famous apple pie…why is there a 50yen price difference between hot and cold apple pie?! This is a bit ridiculous to me, especially since it is just microwaved for a couple of seconds.
The crust was made of layers of flaky dough that did not fall apart, in fact it was all stuck together, doughy and hard. You find it hard to cut it with the side of a fork. Were they trying to make a flaky pie crust or a soft bread dough crust…? Regardless, they failed at both. The apple filling was in large chunks and not really held together by any sauce that gave it a sense of cohesiveness. Moreover, the size of the slice did not warrant the price.
