Takenokuma Cafe — Restaurant in Minamioguni

Beautiful space overlooking the rice Fields - it’s really very calming and the view overlooking the lake especially from their outdoor deck is lovely. I had to come here after reading about it in Casa Brutus. They only open on weekends so the queue can build up. We arrived here just before noon on a Saturday and there were a fair bit of people. Self service , try the onigiri with dessert set . We sat indoors in the end which is pretty comfy too as everyone was sitting on the deck and got a little crowded. Coffee here is definitely on the light side but the rice is pretty nice has that glutinous sticky texture. I ended up buying a small packet of the rice from FIL next door as a memento. I knew in Netherlands about Japanese incredible traditional style cafe in South Japan last year and finally I could visit there!! Amazing nice location, can see beautiful original nature. Building is very nice Japanese wood style and it was so cool! European people respect original nature and traditional culture. So I think all European people love this place if people come. Europe things( food, water, coffee) so very costly but Japan is cheaper than Europe life. I hope more and more global people to know this place and feel nature energy...

駐車場に停めると店の看板が見当たらなくて。 何人か右から歩いてきたので、そちらかと思い進むと建物の気配なし。 どうやら建物を水田側からながめる道だったようで。 反対側に歩み直すも看板がない。 料亭のような門がある。 これかな？と思うも看板がない。 石を見るとようやく「竹熊」と彫られているのを確認。 初めて行く方は、添付の正面入り口写真を参照。

建物に一歩踏み入れると、先ほど外から見た水田を借景に、開放された和の空間。 美しい。 心からそう感じた。 先ほど外から見た水田と畦道という田舎にある何気ない風景を、こんなに開放的に切り取ってるだけなのに、別世界のような特別な空間に見える。 受付棟以外の渡り廊下や舞台は、壁や窓もなく吹きさらし。 庭園の水と舞台が、どこか厳島神社のようなデジャブ。 あちらは海を切り取った建物だが、こちらは田園風景を切り取った建物。 どこにでもある、日本の風景の美しさを再認識したのと、この建物を設計・施工した方々のセンスの良さに感動した。
