After having visited the restaurant several times on previous trips to Miyakojima, I finally had the chance to stay overnight in one of their villa suites. It was a spacious and relaxing suite that allows you to fully escape from the outside world and have a true retreat. It is the most relaxing place I have stayed in Miyakojima. The interior is made of beautiful natural materials and tones, and they provide high quality loungewear and bedding to make the stay comfortable. The suite had a huge jacuzzi tub and private pool, and we had an amazing time swimming and looking at the beautiful Miyakojima stars. They had all of the amenities that you could need, including high quality body care products and extras like face masks. With the stay was included an amazing breakfast every morning and full dinner course every night. The breakfast was unique from any other luxury hotel breakfast, because it was truly a full meal, with ingredients just as exciting as the dinner course. They let you choose to have either a Japanese or Western breakfast so you can have whichever one suits your preference. We were able to spend the entire day within the Grand Bleu Gamin property, because they have their own beautiful private beach on the property. Every morning, we woke up to do yoga and meditation on the beach, and it was the most wonderful way to start the day. Then during the day, we could swim and relax in the sand. The location is also very accessible to lots of the great other sites to see in Miyako, so it’s a great base for either a leisurely or an active vacation. Time slowed down while we were in the resort and every aspect was taken care of at the highest standard of hospitality. For dinner, the chef and the staff took wonderful care of us, and after dinner we went up to the bar on the second floor and had after-dinner cocktails with the view of the beautiful...
Read moreGrand Bleu Gamin is my absolute favorite restaurant and resort on Miyakojima. The ambiance is elegant yet relaxing, and the staff are all incredibly welcoming.
The first night we visited, we had their full-course dinner at the counter with the chef cooking right in front of us. I was incredibly impressed by the quality of the ingredients, the creative recipes, and the beauty of the presentation. Each course is designed based on the most fresh ingredients of each season, led by a renowned international chef who had his training in France and brought this technique back to Japan, refining it in an elegant fusion cuisine.
I have brought along my friends from New York, Paris, and Tokyo, and they were all highly impressed with the caliber of the dining experience. I have dined there more than 10 times, and every time has been a completely new selection of courses which flow together beautifully. They are also able to recommend an excellent wine pairing with each course. Some of the people I have brought there have had dietary restrictions or preferences (like wanting no shellfish, no fried ingredients, etc.) and they have always catered to it by my recommendation.
They have both counter seating as well as private dining rooms. It is definitely the type of place worth making a tradition out of and coming back...
Read moreThe adorable red car that picked us up immediately lifted my daughter’s spirits. Although the rental car was a compact one, the short distances involved in touring Miyakojima made our travels comfortable. The car was so cute that we couldn’t resist taking pictures with it.||||The room was wonderfully relaxing, with its pleasant scent and cozy ambiance, which left my daughter, my wife, and me in awe. The private beach had changed shape since our last visit, reminding us of the passage of time. My daughter was engrossed in collecting shells and pieces of coral. We also enjoyed the pool this time, especially the nighttime swimming. The tiles, lighting, and white walls created a magical atmosphere. On the second-floor terrace, we turned off the lights to admire the star-filled sky, and my daughter was thrilled to spot a shooting star.||||The meals were exceptional, with a dinner that was both playful and deeply satisfying. My daughter happily enjoyed her kids’ plate. We were delighted that the staff member who had served us multiple times in Tokyo remembered our daughter. Unfortunately, due to our flight schedule, we couldn’t have the breakfast we had been looking forward to, but the prepared snack box was delicious and appreciated by the whole...
