Whenever I see this “氷” flag flying in front of a store, my eyes start to glow with excitement and my mouth begins to drool like a Rottweiler. That flag only means one thing, kakigori! Since I’ve discovered this amazing Japanese shaved ice speciality, I’ve been on the search for “ice” flag anywhere I travel, especially in the summer when the heat can be defeating. One particular summer day in Miyazaki led me to this store and it took every once of mindful breathing and self meditation to wait for my kakigori to arrive after ordering. Especially when I ordered their pitaya version. This shaved ice was topped with dragon fruit syrup, homemade condensed milk, bananas, pineapple, mango, dragonfruit, kiwi and blueberries! Read moreThe ice cream is home made! Visiting Kumamoto and Miyazaki areas, you can have ice cream at every corner you visit - Great milk makes great ice cream! But then most are pre-made/commercial or made with milk right from the dairy farm, this is the only one we saw that claims to be home-made.
