We are staying at the Fairfield by Marriott in Miyazu and on check in we were given a list of recommended izakayas/restaurants to visit. We settled on Ponta and on arrival we were warmly greeted and invited to sit at the bar. The atmosphere here is comforting and cosy with large bar tops of warm wood, cushioned chairs and multiple tatami floored seating areas for dining. The owner and chef explained the menu to us and his English was jouzu. I ordered a regular set meal and couldn't have been happier. Sashimi, grilled aji, cold noodles, fluffy rice, a dark soy miso soup and pickles. My partner ordered the premium set of nigiri and we were both blown away by the flavours and tenderness of the fish.
