Nice little restaurant on the Nakasendo trail, we stopped by for lunch as we skipped all the restaurants in Magomejuku due to the crowds of tourists. This place mainly has sticky chestnut rice and soba, and we each got a serving of cold soba which was perfect for the hot and sunny weather. Plenty of side dishes and for a reasonable price. The staff was quite busy but still provides good service, English menus were available and a big help. They also served soft serve and there is a vending machine outside the place to buy a drink to bring with you on you’re hike. Not the best place but nothing to complain about, we enjoyed our lunch break here...

A cute little restaurant right before we head towards Tsumago. Dropped by and bought an origiri as we were intrigued by the chestnuts fillings. Ate it at the observatory with the stunning view on our way back, the origiri was really surprising and amazing! It was really tasty while being so unique! On top of the chestnuts there were also a very unique fragrance to the rice itself. My only thought while having the origiri was that I should have bought one more of it as it was so good!

P.S. sorry for taking a picture only after we had a few bites of it. It was too good and the camera could wait, my...

Very friendly staff. Nice sit down ice cream inside to recover from the hike. Free additional treats and much hospitality. The Ice cream was one of those cartridge delivered ones pumped into a biscuit cornet - tasty.

They like their cats so were pleased with the result of the photograph of their cat I took outside as we entered. We got pampered to the same level.

No sign of any monkeys which were mentioned in another review below. Always treat monkeys with respect since if you don't they get up to monkey business from shaking wet leaves at...

They have english versions of their menu! This restaurant sells a local specialty that consists of chestnuts and rice. Got the chestnut rice teishouku (set meal) with cold soba noodles, perfect for the summer weather and a good lunch pitstop along the nakasendo trail! If you sit at the area near the window, you'll have to remove your shoes, but the view is nice and you'll see trekkers of the nakasendo trail passing by.
