Tucked away at the end of an unpaved road, Cafe Yumeya feels like a secret you’re lucky to stumble upon—a reformed kominka where time slows and coffee tastes better.

We visited just before check-in at a nearby ryokan, and while the final stretch of the drive was a little bumpy, it only added to the sense of arrival. Ample parking greeted us, and stepping into the cozy, wood-framed space felt like walking into a lovingly restored piece of rural Japan. Warm, welcoming, and thoughtfully curated, it’s a space that invites you to linger.

We shared two galettes—crispy, savory, and beautifully balanced—and paired them with freshly brewed coffee. A gentle hush filled the room, broken only by the soft clinking of cups and the laughter of a few families. Toys in the corner signaled a family-friendly atmosphere, and ceramic artworks displayed for sale added an extra layer of charm.

Even the trip to the restroom was its own whimsical detour—a small outdoor path leading past what looked like the river, only to reveal a hidden room tucked away behind the building.

Service was kind, the surroundings serene, and the entire experience felt like a well-kept secret meant to be shared just once—with someone special.

This restaurant is so so cool! An offbeat place! Way to restaurant is kept so natural that it feels like we are travelling in jungle! A small water stream flows below the restaurant! Pet friendly.

Best part is, if you are looking for vegetarian options, restaurant provides options such as dal curry set, banana chocolate crepes (egg). Customized sandwiches. Owner of restaurant speaks very well English as well! Loved the food and the authentic Japanese...

日曜に予約なしで12時前に訪問したところ、 待ち時間なしで入ることができました。 こちらのお店では、時間によっては 猫ちゃんがお出迎えしてくれるとのことですが、 私が行った時はお留守のようでした。。残念。

ガレット自体はもちもちで、 野菜も新鮮。さすが地産地消をうたうだけはある。 とても美味しかったです。 思ってたよりお腹にたまりますね。

誰かの口コミにある通り、カフェとしては ややお高めに感じるかもですが、 ランチセットだけで頼むのであれば、 正直那須塩原一帯のレストランの相場 考えたら十分なのでは。。。という価格帯。

※ちなみにあの辺りで安いランチを食べるなら 麺屋を探すのが手っ取り早いです。笑

古民家を改装してあちこちに 陶芸などの雑貨が飾ってあり、購入もできるようです。 どれも可愛らしかったです。

これはお店側にいう文句でもないですが、 利用するお客さんのマナーがどうも。。笑 大学生らしき女の子たちが持ち込みのゴミを そのまましれーっと置いてったり。笑 家族数組のお子さんがどったんばったんと 暴れてて親は注意もしない。。 しかも予約して来る人がそういうことやる。。
