KEY’S CAFÉ アピタ新潟西店 — Restaurant in Niigata

Small cafe in a the Apita mall competing with several others. The items that set this place apart are the pancakes. Other cafes have desserts like scones and biscuits, but at Apita, Key's has the best pancakes beyond their coffee & tea beverages. The pancakes are substantive without being heavy, and their size is perfect for enjoying an afternoon relatively guilt-free snack. I recommend this cafe for anyone looking for a change of pace from more mainstream cafes.

Tried the coffee soft cream, and for ¥450 yen, the volume of the soft cream is pretty amazing, but I would like there to be a slightly smaller size because as it is, it’s almost too big for one person unless they have a healthy appetite. The flavor of the soft cream was perfect for my palate, not too strong or too faint. If you go later in the day, there’s a good chance it’ll be sold out, so go earlier rather than later if you want to guarantee that you’ll be able to enjoy it. The staff are generally very helpful and eager to help customers. At peak times, it may be difficult to find a seat, but the seating is generally very ample.
