Petit Dej' Pain — Restaurant in Niigata

Terribly short open hours but absolutely worth a visit! Tried three types of bagels as I slid in about 30 minutes before close and most of the inventory was already gone. The coffee bagel was chewy with a hint of coffee flavor, and the roasted almonds were crunchy and super delicious. I also tried the matcha lemon & berry bagel, the berries being cranberries, which were plump, delicious, and flavorful, and the balance of lemon to matcha was done to perfection. The last bagel I tried was the Nozawana bagel, a sesame bagel with Japanese turnip greens woven into the dough. I’ve found that sometimes if the baker isn’t careful, the bagel can come off as too salty, but this bakery found the sweet spot, another delicious bagel. The price point is a little high, and you can see by the photos for this review that bagels are on the smallish side, but the artistry making the bagels is plainly on display with the flavor and presentation. The older woman who helped us was kind and welcoming and happily made suggestions for pairing the bagels with types of cream cheese or sandwich ideas. お店の裏に回れる狭めの小道の先に駐車場があります。

昼過ぎに行った時には既に売り切れ寸前でした。パンが売り切れれば閉まるので、普段店の前を通っても閉まっている事が多かったのも納得です。

ハード系のパン屋さん 水～土の11:30からパンがなくなるまで（最大14:00？）営業です。 丸パンの生ハムブール（雑穀丸パンも選べます）がお気に入りでいつも買います。カンパーニュ、ミニバケット、他の季節の商品どれも美味しいです。 最近買い始めましたが、仕事で土曜日にしか買えないので、いつも買いすぎてしまいます。
