During our honeymoon, my wife and I had the opportunity to visit Nikko, a place known for its stunning landscapes and rich history. Among the many culinary experiences we sought out, Ramen Boten stood out as a highlight of our two-day stay. This was our first encounter with authentic Japanese ramen, and it set the bar incredibly high for the rest of our trip.

From the moment we stepped into Ramen Boten, we were greeted with an atmosphere that was both friendly and welcoming. The warmth of the staff and the cozy ambiance made us feel immediately at home, a feeling that was only enhanced by the delicious aromas wafting from the kitchen.

The ramen itself was a revelation. Each bowl was a masterpiece of flavor, with rich, savory broth, perfectly cooked noodles, and toppings that were both fresh and flavorful. It was evident that there was a deep respect for the traditional methods of ramen preparation, yet with a unique touch that made our meal memorable.

Beyond the exceptional food, what truly made our visit to Ramen Boten special was the sense of hospitality we experienced. The staff were genuinely kind and attentive, making sure that our first ramen experience in Japan was perfect in every way.

Ramen Boten was not just a meal; it was an experience that captured the essence of our trip to Nikko. It offered not only a taste of authentic Japanese cuisine but also the warmth and welcoming spirit of its people. For us, Ramen Boten will always hold a special place in our hearts as a reminder of our honeymoon and the wonderful start to our culinary...

After a fairly long day of visiting Nikko, temple hopping, we found warmth and comfort here. The ambiance seems "shack" like yet the food feels homey and heartfelt. The menu is limited however your taste buds will surprised. Food is served quickly! I opted for the A combo lunch menu (which is also served for dinner) and was very pleased. Both the dumplings and the side of roasted pork rice were delicious. Accompanied by a cold Asahi beer and a nice glass of rose plum wine, my day ended on a high note. Fairly buzzed, I write this review and hope this restaurant hosts your next dinner. Trust me, I'm a food critic. All in all, great meal to share with friends or family in a cosy environment. Would recommend to any tourist hoping for a warm and...

Reaaaally delicious ramen spot. I found almost everything to be really really tasty. Portions are abundant and you might come across with a waitline (but if it is not super long, it's worth it).

First, keep in mind portions are big. We were two women who eat a lot and ordered 2 ramens, 1 of which we ordered in set with rice and the local specialty, to try it. As you might have guessed, it was way too much and we couldn't finish it all.

The rice with butter and pork, the local specialty and the spicy leek char-siu ramen were GREAT. The only thing I didn't love was the butter chicken corn ramen. I expected it to be tastier, to be honest.

They close early (as everything in Nikko 😅), keep...

The famous spicy miso ramen in Nikko, with the signature of Miso soup and Shashu pork. Ramen Bonten is ramen place located in main street of Nikko, Bonten serving three main type of Ramen soup, which are Shoyu, Shio and Miso. The Miso soup is they recommend soup, you can choose both spicy or standard miso soup. Miso ramen is really special and amazingly flavorful, thick in soup and rich in flavor, the aromatic of the soup is so good. Spicy miso with leek also delicious, it's increase spiciness but not too hot or burn your mouth. Gyoza also good for appetizer, very tasty and a must dish.

Came in for a late lunch. The menu options are pretty basic. Most of the ramen versions come with thick noodles which are not my favourite, so I chose the burnt soy sauce broth (with thin noodles) and asked for added egg. It’s not clear from the menu, but the ramen already comes with egg so the addition was unnecessary. The broth was pretty flat in flavour and there were bits of fat bobbing on the surface. The char-sieuw is also quite fatty. Gyōza was a bit bland. Price is decent, service is quick and friendly. Definitely not the best bowl of ramen I’ve ever had.
