Yama-no-Restaurant — Restaurant in Nikko

We went there for lunch on a cloudy afternoon. We ordered the roast beef rice bowl, the beef stew, and dessert. Both the beef dishes came with plenty of veggies (which were surprisingly delicious). The beef stew doesn't come with bread, so you have to order it separately. The dessert set consisted of a slice of mango cheese cake, some homemade ice cream, berries, gateaux chocola, and some other stuff. It was pretty darn good.

The staff seemed very professional, attentive, and easy to get a hold of. They served with a smile and we're eager to answer any questions we had.

The place has a very high-end feel to it. It's quite spacious, with plenty of room between tables. If you are seated near the right window, you can get a view of a nearby waterfall.

Getting to the restaurant is not hard, you can take a bus from Tobu Nikko station or a taxi (1700 yen). Getting back, however, is a bit tricky, as the busses back to Tobu Nikko station are infrequent and there's no way to get a taxi back unless you've booked one beforehand.

Overall, I would totally recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet, and sort of fancy restaurant to spend the afternoon in. They also have afternoon tea...

My husband took me to celebrate my Birthday at Yamano restaurant. We fell in love with this place, not only great food but also warmest hospitality provided to customers from the first moment stepping inside the restaurant.

Mr. Hitoshi Kamiyama, GM was also there making sure all customers were well taken care of. The staff were well trained and very attentive!!!

We went back again for dinner before going back to Tokyo as we enjoyed it so much. We will definitely come back to this wonderful place again when we visit Nikko. Thanks to the Chef for delicately preparing such...

I went there last December. I think if I could have chance to go at Fall, there must be perfect since the restaurant is surrounded by maple and you can see water fall there

Food is good! Especially bread. I gave 4 stars because i think for steak sauce, you should not put it on meat and serve( just in my opinion) i think it should be separated and let customer decide to put it in. That might be better because i think it was too much sauce. It’s really pity
