Butadon Ichiban’s Obihiro Main Branch is clearly a local favorite—the place was packed when we arrived, and it’s easy to see why. I ordered their signature pork rice bowl, which is what they’re best known for, and it did not disappoint. The portion was generous, especially the amount of pork. Each slice was thick, tender, and incredibly juicy, grilled to perfection with just the right amount of char on the edges.

The sauce had a rich and smoky flavor, though I personally found it slightly on the sweet and salty side. That said, it still complemented the rice beautifully and brought out the natural flavor of the pork. I could see how this taste would be addictive to many. The rice was perfectly cooked—fluffy but firm enough to hold up under the meat and sauce.
