You can either play with Akita dog for 10 mins, or just enjoy looking at them in the cafe while drinking tea. I got to play with two adorable Akita dog, Mutsu and Genta. Both were still young and very active.
The cafe was quite packed when I got there. Different from common animal cafe, 10 mins is dedicated for a single group, perhaps to avoid giving the dogs too much pressure. Surprisingly, the cafe called some helpers to ease the queue: another Akita and a Shiba! I think the Akita is called Hachi, which is 13 years old but very friendly. The Shiba is called Azuki, and apparently he thinks that he is an Akita.

Mutsu is very energetic, he's very cute and clingy to the staff and sometimes will bark to get their attention, while Genta is a little bit calmer and sleepy. There are other akita, Hachi and black shiba inu, Azuki as well (they came in to change shift with Mutsu and Genta). The staff were friendly and can speak English well. Read moreWe found this Akita Dog Café from a poster at Akita Inu no Sato and called to check if they had space. It’s only about a 10-minute taxi ride away. I went with my two little kids, and we all loved it!
At Akita Inu no Sato we could only see the dogs from behind a wall, so being able to actually touch and play with the Akita dogs here was amazing. The dogs were super calm and cute, and the staff were really nice too.
