Gassanyu Sushi — Restaurant in Osaka

This place was super cool. Only a few seats (6 maybe?), but the owner is really cool and takes pride in his work. I ordered what I thought was a regular lunch set, but he delivered it Omakase style, one nigiri at a time. With the very first piece, he told me not to add soy sauce; try it as it is. Boss move.

The squid I had in Japan had a horrific mouth feel until I tried it here. It was actually good. I also don't like tuna, but I liked it here.

The shop owner and chef are vey nice even to a foreign traveler. The shop is small and local but full with kindness and hospitality. The menu is not in English but I was lucky enough to be there with the friend of the chef who can speak English very fluently. We meet Chari and his wife 2 nights ago, the sushi was amazing, and the rest of the clients look like a family. Two nights, he took us on a Japonese Karaoke.
