Sushi-oyaji — Restaurant in Osaka

I don't understand why this place only has 2.9 out of 5 stars. I visited this place twice during my first stay in Osaka in July 2018. It was the first sushi restaurant I had in Japan, and ever since I've had more & more sushi. However, this place, tucked away in a neighbourhood area of my AirBnB, will always be in my heart. This is where I first remembered what a true sushi should taste like and registered how the distinctive aroma of a sushi restaurant should be. (We have some authentic sushi restaurants in Bali Indonesia where I'm from, "Ryoshi" comes to mind, but I've lived in north QLD Australia for so long that I forgot how a true sushi should taste and the aroma of a true sushi restaurant).

The authenticity is further proven by the fact that they do NOT serve roll sushi, for it's a recent thing (and more popular outside Japan). They instead serve sushi by placing pieces of fish on top of a bite-size very delicious rice. And the rice, OMG. That perfect blend of sweetness of the rice and sourness of the vinegar... only authentic restaurants can produce such sushi rice.

The price is very decent (I was full with ~1,000 yen of sushi moriawase), the staff friendly (they were happy to see me again on my second night). Beware that there was no English menu, but that shows how authentic this place is. You can still communicate with them using calculator (for price) or...

上にぎりを頼んだら写真のものがきて、色々聞いたら普通のにぎりとのこと。 百歩譲って注文を聞いてくれたバイトの方が間違えたのはいいですが、寿司を提供する大将までもが上にぎりです。と言っていました。 流石に見分けはついて欲しかったです。 注文を聞いたバイトの方が総出で怒られているのを見ましたが、気分が悪いです。

味は本当に普通でした。これで1000円は高いくらいかと。他の方が写真に載せているようなお寿司を期待していたらかなり薄く小さく...

すみません💦 一言最悪でした。ホタルイカ、鰹のたたき、頼みましたが、本音、これ、食べたらお腹痛くなりそう。。へんな、色、たべ、応え💦かぶと煮？は？食べる所ないのに、結構な値段。。来店した時は雨は降ってなかったのですが、途中から、大雨。。普通、傘は大丈夫ですか？の声かけもなく、どしゃ降りで、かえりました。私も接客業です。。しんじられませんでした。。自分も悪いですよ、傘、もってきてないんだから。。。もう、行きません�...
